  • I realise everyone here is attempting to be helpful but fail to see what difference it makes whether we use the historical Avro site or the administrators' one, where we don't have to keep trying or be told to wait 15 minutes.  It is a website, not a bus and my meter readings are on the admin one so why should I bother with that of a company which has traded fraudulently and left us all in a very deep hole?

I just realised this p.m. why I have been feeling so unwell for the last three days; I have been too cold and that does not work for me at all.  I have been reluctant to turn on the heating when, before, I would not have hesitated to do so.  Octopus really need to step up and tell us what they will be charging so we can do something about it before we run up one penny of debt we don't need to.  If Ofgem can  move this quickly, so can Octopus, imo.  All they need to do is post the tariff rates on their Avro page, after all.  It would take them five minutes, if that.

    Thanks for the summary.
    Here's mine:
Q: 'may I ask you how you changed to Octopus today and got onto a variable tariff?'
A: 'Probably applied to switch 3 weeks ago when it was available.'
So my response was largely accurate but you don't want to admit it.

As explained a few pages earlier, you can get the tariff info from <Octopus>. Enter your postcode then just wait a few seconds for the tariff list to load. At the top, click on the 'Filters' drop-down list. Select 'flexible' from the options. In my case the flexible October 2021 v1 is third on the list.
Let us know how you get on.

  • Does the "new customer" / "existing [Octopus] customer" debate come into it?

No. It did not enter into my tariff information list on Octopus.

Sam, forget about that part, it is only relevant in the original context that I raised it, which is if you apply to join Octopus as a new customer you will only see a small fraction of the published tariffs.

  • That was my point: If Avro escapees are subject to the same restrictions as "new" customers?

No, they are being put onto a variable tariff which is not being offered to new customers at the moment, so they have an advantage in that respect..

Does that mean the tariff info from Octopus' website doesn't apply to former Avro customers?
    Edit
Ok. Just read MSE news item on the subject. We'll get £10 less than the October cap for typical medium consumption.
