But surely, even if the site says the tariff is 'available' but you can't apply for it then either it is not actually available to apply for or else your browser settings may need some adjustment.
There's nothing wrong with my browser settings. Octopus only let you get an online quote for two very expensive fixed tariffs, which they call their "most popular", despite having numerous tariffs shown on their site as "available".
If it helps, Octopus are unusual in that they allow existing customers to switch to any of their currently available tariffs as shown in the tariff list.

This doesn't mean that all the tariffs you see there are available to new customers not yet with them, so you will always see differences between the full list and those offered to a new customer.

Once onboard with Octopus you can request a transfer to one of the other tariffs, or at least it has certainly been possible up to now, I guess we have to wait and see if anything changes in that regard with current circumstances....

Whatever rate Octopus puts us on, it is virually "fixed" until April 22 by the price cap.
There are no exit fees so if anything comes up worth switching to before April you can do it.

Providing the price cap still exists.  It is not a given that it will be.

Thank you for taking the trouble to post this. It is very helpful.  🙂

I'm curious to know what the "Flexible October" tariffs are.
My switch to Avro/Octopus won't complete until next week so they haven't contacted me just yet but I would like some idea now of what I'll be charged.
  • Just to let people know, the Avro website is still running and producing bills.

I entered my meter readings on the 24th (i.e. after they stopped trading).

Today, a September bill appeared in my account with gas & elec charged at the 'old' Avro fixed tariff rate.

That will corrected. Avro went into liquidation the moment that Ofgem appointed the SoLR.

Avro ceased trading according to Octopus on the 26th Sept.

When Breeze went under, the switchover date for tariffs and charging at the higher rate was many weeks after their collapse. But then, British Gas were the SoLR for that and it was a shambles, so it may be the true date of Octopus' appointment this time. We just don't know, other than it won't be before the SoLR was appointed.

I don't know why you're posting in answer to my request for information, because you clearly don't have any.
    That's a bit unkind.
The reason was that the switch had been applied for some weeks ago.
There is certainly no need to get snotty with people trying to inform you.
