They won`t do away with the cap but it`s highly likely to increase next April again.fisnik said:
Am I wrong in thinking that the government will probably do away with the cap considering that they'll be asking a lot of the surviving companies to take people on? Can they be forced to take customers on at a loss? At the very least the cap will have to be changed to a more expensive tariff.bristolleedsfan said:luckwudaveit said:

What we do know is default SVR dual fuel tariff come 1 October will be one of the cheapest tariffs on the market
I'm with Avro and I'm not sure what to do now. Pondering whether to swap to a more expensive fixed EON tariff. Not sure if it might be cheaper in the long run.
According to Boris this morning the price hike is "temporary" and they will do all they can to protect consumers.
It seems they`re happy to let the minnows go to the wall but are looking at ways to make sure everyone keeps their supply this winter, probably by helping the big six, who will have to take on customers who`s supplier has gone bust.
I don`t know how long your contract is with Avro but if it covers most of this winter, I`d stay put.2 -
I wonder how many of us went from GNE to EDF and then decided to go to Avro.1

This from this mornings BBC web news:
"The government is considering offering emergency state-backed loans to energy companies as firms battle to stay afloat amid surging gas"
Also, "The UK's sixth largest energy company, Bulb, is seeking a bailout, while four smaller firms are expected to go bust."

This. I can't see Avro surviving so I'm going to stop the switch and try Eon Next but I need to phone them as it says they think I only need electricity.westv said:I wonder how many of us went from GNE to EDF and then decided to go to Avro.0 -

EON Next/Sainsburys Energy has probably cheapest dual fuel fixes on the market, cheaper than new energy cap currently
Just done an MSE CEC comparison and that's the cheapest here at £84/month compared to the current £65, plus there's Nectar points for switching.FWIW I'm on Avro's Simple and SuperPremier tariff which doesn't appear on the CEC list of tariffs unless I'm missing something - Simple and mSuperPremier isn't the same.

I'm hoping they do as I fit their conditions for the WHD broader group so that's a £140 credit.I can't see Avro surviving...

Is the last statement June-July or July-August? Avro usually issue new statements three working days after the billing period.ContraryQuattro said:
Thanks. I've looked at the dashboard as you suggested and the Last Payment section does indeed register my last direct debit payment to them at the end of August. However, my last statement was dated early July with nothing since and they have ignored all of my meter readings since July.Rocox said:
What does it say in the Last Payment section of the dashboard? Have you recently requested a switch? If you're not receiving statements and payments aren't being registered, are you sure you have an active account with them?ContraryQuattro said:Avro energy haven't provided me with any statements/ bills since early July. They have taken 2 direct debits from my bank account since then but have not aknowledged receiving the payments at all.0 -
I've tried to get in contact with Avro (via Twitter) this morning re COT (change of tenancy) but they appear to be mute with no response yet. Email re COT was sent to them on the day of moving 16 working days ago and no response either other than the generic response. Hoping this is not a bad sign. Unless something happens today I shall be stopping my DD that is still active and assume that my final bill refund (circa £175) will eventually make its way back to me at some point. I just know that Avro will take another payment unless I stop them dead in their tracks via my bank.0

Let us know how you get on with that. Not even Ofgem can get response from them.luckwudaveit said:This. I can't see Avro surviving so I'm going to stop the switch and try Eon Next but I need to phone them as it says they think I only need electricity.
