  • Avro energy haven't provided me with any statements/ bills since early July. They have taken 2 direct debits from my bank account since then but have not aknowledged receiving the payments at all. I have tried to contact them by phone but can't get through and by e - mail, but no response. I'm concerned that these payments have now disappeared into thin air on their system. Will I lose this money if they go bust because it doesn't appear on their system ?
  • As I was implying, the system does appear to be a bit one-sided the way it works!
    Telegraph Sam

There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know
  • To state the bl**ding obvious, it might be prudent for all Avro customers to download any account info they may need from their website - if it's still up and running.
Yes indeed although as you might know the leave from Avro has been forced due to my moving house.  All statements downloaded and screenshots of the old meter on moving day (just over 3 weeks ago).  Seeing as their change of tenancy team have not responded within the advised 10-15  working day period (originally it was 5-10 days) I shall be cancelling my DD mandate early this week before thay try to grab another wedge of capital even though I am slightly less than £175 in credit at the cot date!

It may be faster getting a refund via a SOLR than through Avro it seems if this is the way it pans out.

Not much help but perhaps no news is good news. If they had not received the DDs, you can bet they would have emailed you immediately they became overdue.

What does it say in the Last Payment section of the dashboard? Have you recently requested a switch? If you're not receiving statements and payments aren't being registered, are you sure you have an active account with them?

How could Avro complete the switch if they go bust though? I'm in the process of switching TO them, not away.

In same situation, switches to Green Network Energy completed after GNE announced it was no longer trading

I think the SOLR will take you on. But it could take a while and who knows what the tariff will be. That's what happened to me when I switched to GNE, they collapsed 15 days after I switched to them and I got moved to EDF. I'm now 5 days in to the cooling off period of switching to Avro.

What we do know is default SVR dual fuel tariff come 1 October will be one of the cheapest tariffs on the market

Thanks. I've looked at the dashboard as you suggested and the Last Payment section does indeed register my last direct debit payment to them at the end of August. However, my last statement was dated early July with nothing since and they have ignored all of my meter readings since July.

Am I wrong in thinking that the government will probably do away with the cap considering that they'll be asking a lot of the surviving companies to take people on? Can they be forced to take customers on at a loss? At the very least the cap will have to be changed to a more expensive tariff.

I'm with Avro and I'm not sure what to do now. Pondering whether to swap to a more expensive fixed EON tariff. Not sure if it might be cheaper in the long run.

So it would seem they have received your DDs but haven't applied your latest readings to the two monthly statements which are now overdue. Why that should be is anyone's guess but I would guess they are understaffed.
