- Avro did not act in accordance with the Standard Licencing Conditions when they blocked the transfer to another supplier, as the debt was under 28 days old.
- Avro customer service failed to address the complaint to a satisfactory standard
Just out of interest, did you ever get to see the "offer" you had not received?Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Does this mean they have pulled out of the market for new customers?Could well be that Avro are still paying commission if they gain a customer from another company via the CEC, but not for a tariff swap by an existing Avro customer.Hiding deals offered by your existing supplier makes a nonsense of the CEC's ethical claims to show all suppliers.0

I have just done a price comparison on the CEC for the first time in ages (because I knew there was no point as prices were skyrocketing) and concur that the increases are 40-50%: Horrifying but true. I think Avro really do have us over a barrel and are only too aware of it. I also expect them to disappear in the not too distant...
Last night, I wrote them quite a sternly worded email requesting refund of my north of £300 credit but did not send it; I loathe being in this position: I am actually afraid they might terminate my contract if I either ask for money I am owed or to reduce my DD. I think, were I to receive a refund, they would hike the DD to an idiotic level and, if I cancelled the DD, they would terminate my contract and throw me to the overpriced wolves. I never thought I would miss having only exit fees to worry about.
Avro has been my first foray into a (historically) non-Big 6 (hah!) company and I cannot say it has been any fun at all. It has saved me money but at what cost, ultimately? Only time will tell.0 -
If you ask for a refund, they will either allow it (in full or in part) or refuse it. Nothing more. At this time of year, they are likely to refuse if it represents less than the value of about 2-3 months standard (1/12 of annual) DD.If you cancel your DD they are likely to transfer you to their SVR tariff which would be more expensive in the long run.If they are going to crash and die there is not much you can do about it except transfer to another supplier now (before it's announced). That's life, unfortunately. We're all in the same boat.

I am not holding my breath for the formal apology or 'compensation', based on their total lack of interest so far.2 -
I thank you, Consumerist, for stating what I already knew but was trying to pretend was not the case. We should have options! What on earth is the point of all the comparison site BS if suppliers can raise charges whenever they like and go bust at the drop of a hat?
It seems we really are between an Avro and a hard place.1 -
Well, I don't want to raise any false hopes but Avro have been between a rock and a hard place before but still they have, in the past, risen again like the proverbial phoenix. The decision, for me anyway, is to whether to jump now and face certain high price increases or, with a glimmer of hope, wait to see if they ride this one out too. I have to say the chances of the latter do not look good right now but hope springs eternal.

I manage an account with Avro which is on a fixed tariff until next February, and of course at rates which are currently unbeatable. Suppliers are currently falling like flies, but my feeling is if Avro go, a whole lot more smaller suppliers will also cease to trade. Avro have ignored the SLC and survived previous OFGEM "punishments", so may continue to do so - at least until Febuary.

I`m fixed `til next May so I`m going nowhere by choice.
If they go bust, they go bust.
