  • For anybody looking for quotes the only comparison site I found which is currently showing Avro's latest Simple and Fixed12M tariff is Uswitch.com. The rest still seem to be showing the Simple and Saver12M tariff. The new Simple and Fixed12M tariff has been out for over a week.

You would think it would be in Avro's own interest to get their new Simple and Fixed12M tariff published to the comparison sites. It's really surprising that the Citizens Advice comparison site who are normally very trustworthy hasn't picked this up already.

27th March I emailed requesting my credit balance be refunded.
12th April Henry from Avro replies with a lot of yada yada and agrees to refund ¾ of it.
    Still waiting.

7th April my daughter emailed requesting a refund. Still waiting also, not even a reply.
I'm some £190 in credit, mostly from a Warm Home payment, so I emailed support@ requesting a payment holiday on 16 April. Last year they responded within 24 hours and and agreed to a holiday two working days later. This year I'm still waiting for an acknowledgement nearly two weeks on.

Have a look at this and then wonder why some tariffs are missed.
How can Ofgem sit back and let these suppliers get away creating new tariffs every week for no good reason other than to try and bambozzle the consumers.

"Henry from Avro replies with a lot of yada yada"

Coincidentally it was Henry who eventually replied to my Direct Debit reduction request. That took two weeks from the initial e-mail to them! He must be the only one dealing with customer e-mails?
Yes, lots of yada yada but, fortunately a positive outcome eventually.
  • Just took a quick look at Avro's latest tariff, up again in price, no let up at present with energy prices.

Guess what? I got an email time-stamped 9:29 - a minute after I posted that - from Henry agreeing to a payment holiday.
    That's some coincidence.
[Edit] Looking at the headers it was sent at 10.29am. Still quite a coincidence.

Avro and most of the smaller suppliers who take advance DDs and accumulate excessive credit balances are going to be penalised by new rules proposed by Ofgem from Summer 2022 so I think we can expect less of a price advantage from these companies in future.

No pressure here from the big six, of course.

Just in the interest of balance, I've been with Arvo for quite a while, including a house move etc because they've remained the cheapest for me. I have to say, I've never encountered any issues with them and they've always been just as responsive as any other company I've used.

I've genuinely not had any issues.

Been with Avro for a few years, just been notified that our Simple and SuperFixed tarif is coming to an end on the 10th June and we will be switched to their Simple and Fixed12M tariff, assuming we stay.
Been checking the MSE Cheap Energy Club and the top ones that say they will save us money are all variable tariffs. As we are coming in to summer in the northern hemisphere, don't wholesale prices of electricity and gas usually decline so are variable tariffs worth going for at this time of year?
The top three options are Orbit Energy, Igloo.energy and Green.
Wondering whether to jump ship or stay with Avro, their Simple and Fixed12M tariff offer is:
    • Electricity standing charge: 17.85p/day
    • Electricity unit rate: 16.117p/kWh
    • Gas standing charge: 17.85p/day
    • Gast unit rate: 2.987p/kWh
If we were to switch, can you schedule the switch date? Since the Simple and SuperFixed tariff beats anything so may as well ride it out to the end. TIA

I'd guess that one's switching options depend on whether it is an internal or external switch, as well as which suppliers are involved and whether exit penalties apply.
There will be regional variations in the prices quoted but assuming the ranking is similar then at these levels customer service ( or lack of) feedback becomes more important than saving a few ££ over the course of a year.
I am on a daily variable tariff st the moment. Part of the incentive was the hope that prices will dip in the summer.
