    I will happily join you on the Octopus thread forum. With Tacker you do get a "quote" but unlike the fixed tariffs it is only a guesstimate.  You can vary the prices in the calculation. Up to now I have found that forecasting using current prices works out cheaper than Avro - but then Avro seems to change their fixed tariffs almost as frequently themselves (!) Worst case there is no exit penalty for either.

    The difference is that once you're onto an Avro fixed tariff, your rates are set throughout the term.

    Correct as far as any one tariff goes.  It's swings and roundabouts.

    Joined Avro on the 2nd Feb,Then switched to Octopus on the 2nd April because of the poor customer service.
    I still have no meter readings or statements showing on the avro account after 10 weeks.
    They now just completely ignore all emails concerning the matter.
    How on earth are they allowed to get away with stuff like this? :s
    It has made me think twice about ever switching again, Scottish power still owe me money after the collapse of YE and now Avro owe me money.
    I hate to think what a financial hole some people might be in through energy companies thinking they are ok to do things like this.

    Ofgem allows energy suppliers to take up to six weeks from the switch date to provide a final bill and a further 10 working days to provide any credit refunds. Avro historically takes the maximum time allowed. So it's all normal so far.

    Hopefully, your new supplier has provided you with its opening readings which you so desperately wanted.

  • Can anyone confirm what the meter readings single letter abbreviations on a bill stand for?  These are what I now see on my opening bill covering Feb-April.

    C = Customer Read ?
    O = Opening Read ?
    D = Deemed Opening Read?
    N = ???

    Hi  thanks for your message. An 'N' or 'C' read is a customer read, an 'E' is an estimated read, and an 'R' read is a read taken by a meter reader. Hope this helps. ^Ellie

    Been with Avro for 12 months, no problems at all until I have tried to switch away.

    They objected to the switch as they say I am in debit.  Whilst that is true today, I will be in credit when my direct debit goes out in 2 days.

    If I then re-initiate the swap, what's the chances I am in debt again by the time the new swap attempt is made?

    Bottom line is, I will have to put an extra payment in to make sure I am in credit, and then wait 10 weeks to get the refund.

    I swap just about every year, and Avro are the first company to do this.  Everyone else just takes the money at the end of the month, or refunds it if necessary.  Occasionally, I receive a final bill to pay.

    This 'being awkward' just makes everybody's life more difficult.  I will never return to Avro.
