Avro Energy reviews: Give your feedback

  • Thank you all for swift comments! I think that is the case the tariff just happened to end on the day I searched!

And on checking carefully the Avro one is Simple and Saver 12M and MSE is Simple and Super 12M. Easy to miss.

My current tariff with GoTo Energy ends on 6th May and that was really good deal. We are hoping to move house in a few months so was looking for a fixed tariff with no exit fees.

It still may be the new Avro tariff is the best deal?

    Any opinion greatly appreciated.

Our consumption will probably drop from 20,000kwh gas and 6,000 kwh gas to two thirds: 15000kwh gas and 4000 kwh electricity. Not sure the difference in consumption affects the quotes search?

All you can do is keep checking @

    https://energycompare.citizensadvice.org.uk/

    and     https://switch.which.co.uk/

These two show the whole market unlike MSE cheap energy.
Nothing to stop you entering your new lower expected usage.

I suspect recent chaotic weather conditions have thrown their demand predictions into similar chaos.
Or the Ever Given, stuck up the canal.

Your consumption will affect the estimated annual cost but it shouldn't affect the relative position of suppliers in your list by too much.

Customer service very disappointing. They do not respond to my several emails regarding failed Smart Meters.
If they don't sharpen up I'll be on the move again!
The whole idea of Smart meters is you should be able to keep a check on consumption and costs.
Not true as they do not want to maintain the installed equipment and expect you to read the meters every month. What is the point of 'Smart Meters'.

Was I glad to get away from uncooperative British Gas, the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing. Switching was no problem moving to Avro and also made a saving. So much so that BG revised their tariff after I had left!
Come on Avro get a move on to 2021 before I move!

Well, it depends on who installed the smart meters and when. If you have SMETS1 smart meters installed by another supplier, there is a good chance that they will not work as "smart meters" if you switch. SMETS2 meters should be smart even after you switch.
If you have SMETS1 meters, there is a plan to update them to SMETS2 standard "in due course" but you will need to carry on reading the meters yourself until they are upgraded.

I have been having terrible customer service from Avro. I requested a refund on the 2nd March to the sum of £200, leaving £40 as well as my usual monthly DD. I received an e mail saying that my refund was being processed and I would receive it in 10 working days, No it didn't happen and after copious amounts of emails, many which were not answered I cancelled my DD in protest. I emailed again on 1st April and got a reply from a guy called Henry his response was encouraging, "I am sorry for the delay in your refund. I have escalated this to our finance team who will investigate and ensure your refund is received as soon as possible. Please note this can take a few days as we may need to track your refund with your bank."
Well guess what, I hadn't received it up until 1600 today so I emailed them again and this was the red rag to the bull response....
    "Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately as your direct debit has recently returned to us as cancelled via the bank, your credit refund has been cancelled.

I have attached a direct debit mandate below for you to complete. Please return this electronically in response to this email. Once received I will forward your account through too your credit refunds department for review."

    Kind regards,

    Rhys

I have never heard of a company witholding my own monies and I just don't know where to go from here. If I knew they were working at Hinckley, I would drive over there and demand my monies.

Act in haste, repent at leisure. You know exactly what to do - Avro have told you.
Alternatively, switch to another supplier (which Avro makes no charge for) if you can better their tariff rates.

Why am I acting in haste?  Why should I allow them to withold my own monies, that can't even be legal. I believe there is a law to ensure that utility companies don't hold onto customer funds, and of course I am already in credit.
