Coming up for renewal, and the price they are offering me for Simple and superpremier is £10 per month more than the simple and superpremium tariff they offer on comparison websites.
So, it seems to me they don't offer the same quotes to existing customers. And worse than that, they have chosen a very similar name for my tariff versus their open market tariff (premier versus premium) to reassure me that they are near the best buy end of the comparison table, when in fact that is not the case.
When I was with SP, they also had tariffs on comparison sites that were not offered to their existing customers.
But they would allow you to go through the comparison site to get the tariff even though you were already with them.
Don`t know if Avro would do the same.
Avro don't appear on many comparison sites, presumably because they don't pay them commission. Last time a looked (about 10 days ago), the CAB comparison site, which doesn't process switches, just shows available suppliers, had Avro at the top, but with a tariff that they withdrew last August. Is that a case of Avro not supplying CAB with up-to-date tariffs, or CAB not updating their system?

If by CAB you mean https://energycompare.citizensadvice.org.uk/
I`ve just run a check and the cheapest for me would be Simple and USuperSavvy12M  which is also available through the Avro site.
On the Avro site, at the moment, there are twelve tariffs available for me to switch to.
These are also all listed on the above link if you scroll down far enough.
This site must have been updated since you looked 10 days ago.
I`m fixed until next May so don`t have to bother at the moment.
That shows me the same Simple and USuperSavvy12M (and Simple and MSuperSavvy12M at the same price), but the Avro site itself only shows one - Simple and SuperPremier - at a higher cost. I got that with the existing customer address and a nearby different address picked at random. Still only one tariff shown, how did you see 12 available on the Avro site?

Thanks. That is very interesting, but no facility to switch to those "Currently Available" tariffs. I have emailed them asking why, and had the auto-response saying they aim to reply within 3-5 working days, but it some queries take up to 10 working days. We will see...

I can "see" all Avro's tariff prices at this link, but I can't switch to one of my choosing.  I'm only offered Simple and SuperPremium by Avro in their customer quote, and if I try to apply as a new customer (i.e. not logged in to my Avro account), I'm scuppered because Avro's site recognises me as an existing customer.  I've just followed the CA website's advice, which says "If you cannot find this tariff on the supplier's website, then it's likely to be an exclusive tariff with a price comparison website. To get an exclusive tariff, call or email the supplier directly to ask where you can sign up to this deal."  I'll post again once I receive a reply (3-5 days for Avro).

Yes, but they're not offered to us as a switching optin. That's just a master price list.
Exactly!  I'm only offered Simple and SuperPremium by Avro in their quote, and if I log out of my Avro account and try to get a new tariff as a new customer, their system recognises I'm an existing customer and still only gives me Simple and SuperPremium as an option! I've just taken the CA website's advice "If you cannot find this tariff on the supplier's website, then it's likely to be an exclusive tariff with a price comparison website. To get an exclusive tariff, call or email the supplier directly to ask where you can sign up to this deal." and emailed Avro - I'll post again when I receive a reply (typically 3-5 days).

I've recently agreed to switch to their Superpremium tariff in Feb. (Already a customer). I've used the link suggested to look at the costs, to me, of the Superpremier tariff. It would be £30 more expensive, per year. So I'm happy to stay with the Superpremium one.

So, having looked at the 12 available tariffs on the price list, I'm now really confused because the one you and I have been offered "Simple and SuperPremium" isn't currently available (in fact, you have to scroll right to the bottom of all the tariffs on the price list to find it).  Whereas the tariff "Simple and SuperPremier" is listed as available (the one Gwapenut and others have been offered).  How can you and I have been offered a tariff which apparently isn't one of the 12 currently available?!  Am I going completely bonkers?!

Like I said, nothing Simple about Avro at all!
For £30 a year I wouldn't mind so much, but it's over £100 for me and starts to become a point of principle when others on this thread are being offered the Premium instead of my Premier, which I wouldn't mind being offered and which is much closer to the best Avro tariff in my region.

Absolutely, I'd love to know which genius at Avro came up with the idea of repeating tariff names with minor changes and the rationale behind it - there may be a good reason, but you can't help thinking there may be some benefit to Avro in their customers potentially being confused about the tariff names (I know, I'm a cynic!  )  Well, it'll be interesting to see what replies we each receive from Avro .....

Well, logic suggests that the Superpremium tariff was available when we were offered it (last Monday in my case) but has since been taken off - perhaps replaced with Superpremier?  (Which is more expensive in my case).

Yes, that does seem to be the logical explanation (I was quoted it on 8th Jan) and to be fair, I've never gone looking for SuperPremium before so it could have been around for a while and, as you say, only very recently withdrawn.  SuperPremier would be more expensive for me too.  However, I do wonder why Avro didn't quote me for the two (still available) tariffs that the CA website show as the cheapest for me - Simple and MSuperSavvy12M and Simple and USuperSavvy12M - but I've now emailed Avro to ask, so we'll see what they say.  Maybe it'll turn out that I should trust Avro when they say they continuously offer their customers the cheapest tariffs available.   ;)
  • With all the comparisons, ghosts and genuine, being reported on it is surprising that no one seems to be consulting the MSE Energy Club machine. Last time I looked it came up with a better deal for me than the Citizens Advice line. I forget offhand if it was possible to switch directly from the MSE web site with or without the cashback. I'd be interested to know what MSE makes of the various Avro disguises ..
