I have now finally had my refund 12 weeks after leaving them and the robbing b*strds have changed my final bill so I received just over £3 less than the first final bill

If your tariff ended before the switch completed, Avro will charge you at their (expensive) standard rate for the extra days.

. . . If they have taken more than 30 days from the Final bill to giving you a refund then they have to give you £30 compo but i guess you will need to apply for it.
In fact they have 10 working days from your final bill to make the refund and if they fail to meet that deadline then they must automatically pay the £30 compo. You don't have to apply for it.
If they fail to make the automatic payment then there's a further £30 compo becomes payable. (This bit may not apply to switches before 1st May - may be worth checking).

  • All good up to now:), switched from Bulb to Avro back in Feb switch completed and supplied by Avro 1st March, first bill was £126 compared to £148 same time last year with bulb (not estimates either) and my £94 DD is looking pretty accurate at the moment. Avro are estimating my annual spend will be £1059 which IMO is reasonable for a 4 bed detached property. I would like the option of being able to adjust my own DD like I could do with Bulb but maybe that will come in time. Oh and gotta give Bulb their due they refunded my £125 credit within a few days of final bill. Such a pity Orbit AND NOW Yorkshire energy are coming in cheaper than Avro!! Has anyone moved within 2 months of changing supplier?

For some, with possibly difficult times ahead, that could be a temptation to build up a troublesome debt.
I've recently switched back to Avro now that their skirmish with Ofgem has been resolved and I am waiting to see how things go. I don't really expect any problems, though.

Well yes I suppose that is possible for some people, never really looked at it that way as I am in the fortunate position of being able to carry on servicing all my house expenditure (Not saying I've always been in this position, I've been through the mill in my younger days and spent years at the 'coal face' trying and eventually succeeding in getting ahead) We can either pay or we cant ultimately. My biggest fear is we are all going to be heavily penalised by the effects of Covid-19 for many years to come!

Although off topic, I think we can expect some significant tax rises ahead and, hopefully, a significant change in attitude to those we all depend on most and reward least.

I was pleasantly surprised, having built up a sizeable credit even over Winter, I asked for a reduction in my payments. I was expecting hard work as past experience of energy companies has been they like credit and hate reducing as much as you would like but Avro responded within 48 hours with a drastic reduction with no drama.

For future reference, in my experience it has always been easier to negotiate DD reductions and/or credit refunds in the spring. DD reductions tend to be easier than refunds because the supplier hangs on to your money for longer.

That's good to know. I find myself some £200 in credit, courtesy mostly of a Warm Home Discount Broader Group payment of £140 which I put in for but never expected to get.
