Avro Energy reviews: Give your feedback

If you are a typical user with higher energy costs in winter then your credit will probably disappear come the spring. One of the reasons Avro andthe smaller companies can stay in business is that they try and keep customers in credit before winter starts otherwise they will run out of cash.
I appreciate that our energy costs are higher in winter, however, our credit balance is not reducing, and in some recent winter months has increased. Given that - at what level of credit is it reasonable to request a refund?0 -
. . . and hang on to those credit balances as long as possible after you have switched to another supplier.. . . One of the reasons Avro andthe smaller companies can stay in business is that they try and keep customers in credit before winter starts . . .
If it helps to keep their energy prices competitive then I can live with that as a business model. Unfortunately, some expect both lower prices and an immediate return of credit balances.

It's an unusual scenario but if your statements have been based on actual readings and since you have just switched tariff, you should be able to ask for it all. I don't think they're too keen to give refunds during winter (normally) but, if they object, you could ask for a reduced DD which takes account of the credit balance.I appreciate that our energy costs are higher in winter, however, our credit balance is not reducing, and in some recent winter months has increased. Cheers, I'll wait to see the statement from readings sent 30th January. We'll be away for about 4 weeks in February/March & I won't be able to send readings, but the (real) credit is bound to increase.0 -

When I was with Avro I used to ask for a full return of credit in early September - and accept an offer of half that. That way I was rarely in credit and when I left them in a March it was with me owing them £26.
Which, my having left the DD open, they finally asked for, by a card payment, seven months later.0 -
I am unable to find a contact phone number for Avro on their web site. I am considering switching to them but the lack of a contact number concerns me.0

Guess how I knew that...;)0 -
The phone number is printed on their statements (as well as in the above link), but it appears from comments on here that they are not very good at answering the phone. Maybe it's a way they keep costs down. IME they do respond to emails within the time stated by the auto-response, which used to be 5 working days, but I believe it's gone up to 7 now.ToomanyPies wrote: »I am unable to find a contact phone number for Avro on their web site. Email is better than telephone anyway, as you have a record of what is said, just don't expect rapid replies.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
