You gave readings on the 29th, so their estimated split for the start of the new tariff should be reasonable. If it were me, I'd give readings just before I leave the country, so that their estimate for the next statement won't be too far off actual. Even if you don't, it'll all even out when you readings at the end of December.

    Thanks

That sounds like a decent compromise. I'll send them the day before I leave.
  • Seamless switch from the horrendous British Gas, great on line website, just send in readings once a month and that's it. However after one year my monthly bill went up by £4, but I was £500 in credit. They reimbursed the £500 as soon as I inquired about it. An energy supplier I will be staying with.

A full reimbursement at the beginning of winter ? Incredible from any supplier, let alone Avro !

  • Have been with Avro for around a year now, had no issues, get regular reminders to take meter readings. Website is simplistic but ok, have asked for refund on 2 occasions as using less fuel than estimated owing to home improvements, credited with no argument.
  • I have just renewed my contract for the 3rd year running. They send an email with a quote, which always beats any other quote I can find on comparison sites. Just click the link to accept it and voila! I get monthly emails to remind me to send in my meter readings. The website is simple and clear to use.

Any queries are dealt with quickly and politely. I requested a reduction in my monthly direct debit and it was reduced without any quibbles.

I really can't recommend Avro Energy enough. I have had terrible experiences with Scottish Power in the past and certainly wouldn't go back to them.

Having been with AVRO for ~ 2 months I hadn't received my 1st statement - in fact looked like there was something wrong with the leccy switch altho' the previous supplier (Yorkshire Energy) had closed my account and refunded my credit.
Turns out that AVRO had got a serial number for a leccy meter which had been exchanged in Jan 2015 ! They claimed that the national database was wrong - don't know how as I've been with 7 suppliers before AVRO and ALL had the correct meter details on their bills ,even the ones that went bust!!!
After an exchange of emails with their metering team (inc photos of the meter and the card left in 2015) it has finally been sorted and the first statement produced.

HOWEVER, AVRO have now used a higher start figure than I gave them (and YE used to close my account) - presumably supplied by the "data collectors" - as a result I've gained 41 kwh !!!:rotfl:

Have been with AVRO for nearly 2 years and have no complaints. For me at least, they are consistently the cheapest supplier (without using a totally unknown small company). Recently asked for a refund which was paid out within about 2-3 weeks.

Thankfully, they don't push 'smart' meters like some of the big six, but perhaps that may change in the coming years. I'm happy to provide monthly meter readings online until I'm forced to have one.

I know they were banned for a short while by the regulator from taking on new customers during the middle of this year, but having recently checked several comparison websites, including MSE, I noticed their absence on all but the meercat one. Not sure why that is?

That was merely for not foisting smart meters on to their customers, so that's a plus point in my book.

They only supply dual fuel. If you select that option they will appear on MSE.

    Did you switch go smoothly?
    Have you had problems since?
    Is it easy to contact?

The switch away has not gone smoothly at all. Two demands for £140 after fabricating an exit gas meter reading of 7133 instead of 6772. I've informed them twice of their error, not listening. I even sent proof of my new supplier's actual reading of 6772.
    Still waiting for a response.

The switch to Avro was invisible. They promised a welcome package, still waiting.

Their website only updates if you email and remind them that the website is supposed to show an amount of usage and how much i'm in credit or debit.

They appear to be easy to contact, however their replies seem to take exactly the maximum amount of time allowed.

Phoning is a joke. Nobody answers for ages, and when they did I got put on hold. Permanently apparently.

Overall I'd say 1 out of 10 for satisfaction.
  • I use them because of the price.
They have been fine for two years for a very simple dual fuel account paid by DDR
Not the best website, but adequate
Odd glitches - e.g. I couldn't download some old statements from last year

Cust service queue was not too bad; agent was helpful (and in the UK)
