Ryanair now also do this - book a flight and you get a box on their confirnation inviting you to get £10 off your next booking. To cut a long story short you have to sign up with SD&R and they will have taken £20 off you by the time they send you the £10 cashback - if they ever do.

On 1st December 2009, (5 days ago!) I noticed £10 had been taken from my bank account by Shopperdiscounts.co.uk. I will be cancelling this immediately but would appreciate any advice that may be appropriate in terms of dealing with them.

Just cancelled over the phone given on the credit card statement next to the amount charged. We just realised today, thaT we already paid twice £10. We booked flights with Expedia couple of months ago and there was an option to sign up for a £15 discount on our next ticket purchase, but we can not recall £10 MONTHLY charge for it ever being mention. Vary bad experience. Did not expect Expedia to deal with tricksters.

I have found that my wife has unknowingly been paying this company since
April 2008 :eek: I can recall somewhere at the back of my mind contacting this company and canceling it's so called service way back in 2008. Later today I will be contacting them again. I have read in the postings on this thread that consumer advice say they are doing nothing illegal that maybe but what they are doing is immoral, on my wife's profile it clearly states that she has never used or received any discounts or rewards would a decent moral company not contact her? or am I living in cloud cuckoo land ?
May I also ask has anyone contacted their MP about this company?

Thank you for sharing this information. That's not right! Signing you up automatically for shopper's discounts when you purchase flowers from them?!!! Does it say anywhere on the confirmation page about this shopper's discount thing? It's a good thing you have warned us about this little scam.

SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH MISCO ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTERS. SHOPPER DISCOUNT CONFIRM THAT THE £10 pm TAKEN FROM TESCO MASTERCARD ORIGINATED WITH AN ON LINE TRANSACTION WITH THIS COMPANY.NO KNOWLEDGE OF AGREEING TO THIS ARRANGEMENT.
S D SAY THEY ARE CLOSING MY ACCOUNT AND WILL REFUND ALL MONEY SPENT.I AWAIT WITH BATED BREATH.
i WILL CONTACT MISCO TO CONFIRM THAT THEY ARE OFF MY LIST OF SUPPLIERS.

For potential victims to not become actual victims?

Since it would appear that what they're doing is legal to the letter of the law, so unless
a) people become educated or
b) the state does their thinking for them

it's going to continue.

I really don't want yet more laws (with more loopholes which allow the previous behaviour to continue) to be made.
