  • Further to my post of a few minutes ago, I have now reported the 'Shoppers Discounts and Rewards' scheme to BBC's Watchdog (thank you to the earlier post which gave the link for Watchdog).

    I would just like to post here following a number of emails I have received.

    I own www.shoppingdiscount.co.uk which has no affiliation with shopdisc.co.uk whatsoever. I have received a number of emails from people asking why I have taken £8 from their accounts. I explain that my website is free to use, I never require any membership or joining details, especially financial information. For inforamtion my site is one of a few which all fall under my company Coldsnail Ltd.

    Everytime I receive an email (about 10 per day) I direct them to their bank and tell them to report it as a fraudulent transaction and confirm that it has nothing to do with ShoppingDiscount.co.uk

    Has anyone heard back from Watch Dog? The last thing I want is them knocking on my door by mistake, accusing me of someone elses wrong doing. I am also aware that this will be giving my website a bad name which is a bit worrying. :mad:

    Any info, help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

    In your email back to them:

    1) briefly and strenuously explain that you're not shopdisc.co.uk,
    2) supply shopdisc's contact email address and phone number 'for your convenience'
    3) What to do if (2) doesn't work (contact CC issuer etc.)
    4) possibly a link to this thread,

    You might want to contact them yourself to say you're getting flack from their dodgy practices, and what they'd like to start doing to stop it.

  • Thanks for your suggestions. I have created a dedicated page now containing email & phone numbers to call, that hopefully explains I am in no way related to the scam.

    Hopefully it will reduce the number of emails I receive.

    I too was a victim of this scam via Inter Flora. After reading about it on this site I sent an email of compliant to "shopperdiscountsandrewards" CCd to the COE of the company and CCd to COE of InterFlora.

    I received an email within two hours cancelling the agreement and given a full refund.

  • hi,just of the phone to shopdisk.uk,i have been getting charged £8.00 per month since last april.the lady says i signed up to this offer(which i did not),after telling her i wanted my £80.00 back i then says i will be reporting this to tradeing standards,she says i will have my £80.00 back in my account in 3-5 days,been onto credit card to report this,they say if the £80.00 is not in my account by friday they will deal with this matter.
    i think martin should feature this in the next issuse because i bet there is a lot more people out there getting this charge every month.
    i will repot back when i get my £80.00 back.:mad:

    I agree - go DIRECT to the florist and get a better deal - I use https://www.findflorist.co.uk and ring the florist direct or go visit THEIR website. You get more flowers for your money and a better deal all round and none of this rubbish

  • Heard something on "You & Yours" the other day (yawn, yes I'm a Radio 4 listener). This whole thing was discussed - mainly covering Interflora & Vistaprint.

    Interflora say they don't automatically pass your card details on anymore - you have to type them in if you want to join the shopperdiscounts scheme. Not sure about Vistaprint, but then I don't use them so wasn't so interested!
  • Noticed last month that I had a charge of £8 from this company (having purchased flowers from Interflora) having got nowhere with e-mails to both Shopper Discounts and Interflora (Interflora basically didn't want to know) I called them to find out they had been billing me since October!!! Sounded strange as I check my account daily and have never noticed it before? I didn't tell them that though.

    I have e-mailed all my friends and work colleagues to warn them against using Interflora this Valantines Day. I really think we should tell as many people as possible before February 14th - really hurt them where it hurts.

    My details were passed on from one company to another without my permission. I always thought that was illegal? Especially with bank account details?

    I will never again use Interflora.
