I like option 5 - sums up old style & is clear, catchy too without sounding too artificial.

I also like the last sentence of option 1

  • I like 4 and agree with everyone else that the last line should be 'take control of your life' - I also like the line 'Old Style is about Life Style - this is snappy and eye catching. I don't think 'overpriced' needs to be in the line about cleaning.

Hello everyone. It has recently been pointed out that our description in the forums listing, with its reference to WW2 etc, doesn't really help to attract younger readers on low budgets, such as students, into Old Style. The current description is this:-
Erm...I'm young - 25 or where you looking for younger than that? I've been around this forum from the beginning. I'll be honest and say I don't pay attention to the descriptions underneath forums. I click on the forum, if I see something intersting I'll stick with it. Maybe I'm unique in not bothering.

This site is posted on only by a small percentage of the people that actually view it, was there any actual research done to see if younger people look at the forum or is it just a sample of one or two people that aren't actually young? I don't mean to sound hyper critical I'm genuinely curious.

However I like 2 & 4. My only problem with the current description is the rubber chicken reference - what the heck is that?

The observation was made because so few people who posted into the Getting To Know You thread were in their late teens. Not a true reflection on reader counts we know, but the best straw poll indication we have available, and yes, the forum is read by far more people than those who post.

Late teens, if you haven't already learned good habits at your mother's knee, is often the first time many people have to cook, budget and generally fend for themselves; and with our collection of wisdom and hard earned knowlege from all the members here we'd like to catch them while they're young and pass it on :)

    I prefer number 4.
"It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'."

I know I've told several people on the Debt-free wannabe board to come and look here for ideas to reduce their out-goings. Some have been young, others I don't know.

All I can say is based on the current description would people on that board have thought to look here for ways to save.

I don't go on the student board so I don't know if this board gets recommended on there or not.
