Our Old Style description

Hello everyone. It has recently been pointed out that our description in the forums listing, with its reference to WW2 etc, doesn't really help to attract younger readers on low budgets, such as students, into Old Style. The current description is this:-
White vinegar for cleaning, WWII rationing for budgeting. The good ol'days brought back.

So we've come up with some possible alternatives with MSE Martin's blessing and we'd like to know what you think of them. Martin will then have something to work with when he reviews the description. The final decision on what, if any, changes are made will, of course be Martin's.
Here they are...

One wrote:
It's about swift thrift, living on a tight budget, cooking and cleaning your house, growing and nurturing your cash. Old Style is about lifestyle, forgetting packaging and marketing and taking control of your home.
Two wrote:
Old Style is about Lifestyle. Making best use of budgets by shopping wisely and thriftily, cooking healthy food with no E numbers, cleaning your house for pennies, growing food, and much much more.
Three wrote:
"Vinegar, vinegar, every where; eat rubber chicken if you dare.
Feed my six for £One.Three Two; and pour flat cola down the loo"
!!!!!! We'd like a snappy finishing line from you all please? }}}
Four wrote:
Day-to-day moneysaving for everyone: shop thriftily and wisely; clean without overpriced chemicals; cook nutritious meals on a budget; grow and make things from scratch. Take control of your home!

So, can you tell us which one you like best and why, please... and offers for a finishing line for number three would be greatly appreciated.

I like number 4 - simplistic but explains exactly what we are about, number 3 is catchy but how many new users would understand "rubber chicken"?

I like number 2 because it does exactly what it says on the tin. I like the jolly versey ones but fear they may lose what they want to say in the wrenching of rhyme.

I'm with Moggins. I like number 4 too.

I like 2 & 4. Both are quite simple & get the message across without being patronising or off-putting;)

If I didn't already know what rubber chicken was I don't think I'd want to find out!!

I like number one but I honestly think it verges a little on the green side, which although vary comendable & most of us here practice reduce-reuse-recycle, it could put the unelightned off a little? Humm.....ecology is very "in" though, maybe we should cash in ...........now I'm confused:confused:

Anyway, thanks to Squeaky & others for putting the hard work in on this:beer:

Perhaps I'd better enlarge a little as I liked 2 and 4 too but 4 had the edge for me as 2 seemed to be almost on the verge of repeating itself but number 4.......

Shop, Clean, Cook, Grow - the first words of each sentence, covers what we are about perfectly.

I was torn between number two and four. I like the emphasis in two on Lifestyle.....but I think that might sound offputting to some site users as it sounds like you have to change your whole life overnight and commit 100%.....so I prefer four as it sounds more user-friendly, but I would suggest that as well as / instead of "taking control of your home", it could say something about "taking control of your life"??

Where's the Poll? Having them listed as a poll might get you more results because not everyone is going to use reply. Unless we are allowed to give our own input/suggestions too? In which case a Poll wouldn't be appropriate.

I like number 4 but feel it should add: "... take control of your home and wallet!"

I also like number 2 - but would alter "cooking healthy food with no E numbers to cooking healthy food from scratch...
Old Style is a "lifestyle" ... it's a lifestyle of living within your means.

Personally, I don't like any emphasis on vinegar, because I think that detracts from the true meaning of old style living.

I rather thought a number of people would want to offer suggestions on slight modifications whether there was a poll or not; and I really do want to know why and not just what.

All your comments and suggestions will help us polish the Old Style Description unitl it's a true work of art :)
