Shops I've used it in- M&S, Boots, Post Office, WH Smith, McDonalds, Co-op, Greggs. I used in Asda in London but I know most Asdas outside of London don't take it.
Shops I wish would take it- Sainsbury's, Tesco, Primark.
I struggle with chip and pin due to brain fog and dyscalculia (I was met with a blank look when asking about chip and signature) so I prefer to use contactless where possible, I wish more places took it.

    Why?

Because some people do not need this and prefer to stay as they are?

Even my 19 year old daughter does not do internet banking and does not want a contactless card. She has seen the problems some of her friends have had and does not see the need for them anyway.

So, if we do not need it, do not want it and are happy as we are why should we bother with it?

Me too. BTW if your laptop gets stolen thieves can't access your online banking as it requires you to put in usernames and passwords and sometimes even a third layer of security! Same with mobile banking - you need to put a pin and/or password in.

Also if you have 2 contactless cards in your purse/wallet and someone does try to 'scan' them through your bag (which is what the special wallets are designed to stop) it will confuse the reader and won't take payment.

I wasn't a big supporter of contactless when it first came in, but I much prefer it now.

I also wish Sainsburys would take contactless cards. Primark - even in London don't have it, Nandos, Pret and Eat take contactless, but Wasabi doesn't.

Ironically I am NOT shocked at some peoples insistences that we follow them into it.

Its NEVER been a case of being with or against contactless, its a simple case of choice, I assume we are allowed a little choice without someone breathing dinosaur simply because we chose NOT to divulge with them.

Sainsbury's is rolling contactless out now but it will be mid-2016 before all their stores offer it.

I wonder what people used to do before we were given debit cards and credit cards to use in shops.

Ohh! they used to have to queue up in a bank for 10 mins to then get grilled by the cashier and asked if the account in your name, was yours.

Like all things in life technology moves on.

The only negative thing I have found with the contactless cards is that I am tending to forget the pin numbers over time, I am good at remembering numbers.

Is a bit of a worry as I could usually automatically put the pin in without even thinking about it.

The two Sainsbury's stores I visit frequently have contactless capable terminals so assuming a lot of their stores also have the same terminals surely it'd be a case of a software update?

Then your completely missing the point.

The only way I could possibly carry a card NOT capable of contactless transactions is to downgrade my account to a basic account.
...or do some precision drilling as mentioned above.

I'm just pointing out that your "protective wallet" (and for that matter boycotting shops that accept contactless payments) is not giving you the protection you think it is. If you want to remove the risk of unauthorised contactless use of your card then you must either keep the card under lock and key at home or break the contactless feature on a card you carry in your wallet.
