On the plus side, they've offered to give us the new model when it's out because they can'f fix the engine problem. ( it had done about 600 miles from new )
I'll probably ask for my money back though
Same with my folks Evoque, its had issues from new, something to do with either the auto box changing up too early and causing the engine to labour/stall or the kickdown not working and causing the same issue.
And............ OP if your looking for a 4x4 because of winter, just buy winter tyres for your current vehicle. Both the cars you mention come with sports tyres, you'd get stuck in the snow just like everyone else, except you'd look much more stupid.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Having driven both..........
I would buy the Evoque every time.0 -
I think most people on here are out of date on the X1, there is a new one recently which is more like an scaled X3 was as the X3 is moving on up too.
The new one is nothing like the old one, all new, based on 2 series tourer instead of 1 series, the engine is turned round so leaving much more room inside and bigger boot. Performance, handling and efficiency blow the Evoque out of the water (if its a company car it would save a fortune in BIK tax). Its also far better value than the Evoque and all models come with pretty high equipment levels.0 -

Looks wise, it is very similar to the old one. At least to my eyes.

I very much doubt it will retain its value any better.
And the talk of unreliability should hopefully be sorted with the new engines.
And if anybody thinks BMWs are completely reliable is lying to themselves.
I wouldn't say the X1 now being the size of an X3 is a positive it just shows how flawed the original X1 is.
Depreciation curves are not relevant to size they are relevant to desirability.
Much like the New Mini when it first came out, the retained their value extremely well.
To be honest they still retain it well as an average mile Mini (say a 51 plate) is still worth nearly £2k which is strong money for what is essentially a 13/14 yr old City Car like a Fiesta or Corsa.0 -
if you cant afford a real range rover or a real BMW then don't bother0

What a pointless post.
What is a real Range Rover? A Sport? Or only a full fat Range?
And what is a real BMW?
730ld? 535d? 330d? M3? M5?0 -
RAV4 or Subaru XV will be the better car0

Yes that is what I was thinking as when you look at the specs size wise its not much different in size . thanks.0 -

You're right I shouldn't have compared the X1 to a 1 series, I'd rather to stick to a 1 series (particularly with Xdrive) than a front wheel drive, overpriced soft roader any day of the week.0
