Hi, I've just potted a measly £2.82.......... It would have been about £18 BUT I went to the car boot and bought so many bargains including a very dressy Per Una jacket and skirt that will do for my nephews wedding next year. Four pairs of brand new knee high socks and 2 pairs of lamb skin insoles ( thinking winter here ⛄️). Also 5lb strawberries to make strawberry jam later today, a Laura Ashley lamp and 2 DVDs for my grandchildren's Christmas.

So, in my defence I am extremely happy with my bargains and hopefully it will be raining next Sunday, I won't go to the carboot and I will pot lots :rotfl: xx

My food bills have rocketed and I'm finding its not so much the meals as snacky bits, biscuits, cereal. I'm trying to bake gf but it's a steep learning curve :rotfl:
I deep cleaned the whole kitchen and replaced a lot of stuff I couldn't clean properly eg wooden utensils, baking things, plastics, when she was diagnosed but haven't got a dishwasher so have to hope hand washing is enough when I occasionally use a knife on 'real' bread.

Yup, the biscuits are probably my biggest expense as the teen monster can eat his way through an entire pack in one sitting if i'm not watching :o

With regards to cereal, the Mr T supermarket own brand cereal is the same as their own brand free from range (their ingredients are exactly the same but the cheeky beggers whack the price up for putting free from on the box  ) coeliacs Uk actually list their own brands in their directory as safe to eat.

I also tend to save up for the 3 for 2 offers which are twice a year, once in may for coeliac awareness week and once in november and I spend about £60 on G/F biscuits, oats (for flapjack ;) ), G/F weetabix and cakes which he then has to ration for as long as possible! Does save me a fortune over time, he has literally just come to the last pack of biscuits from his may stash. I also try and bake his cakes/muffins as I found that using the standard 2oz flour/sugar/butter to 1 egg ratio gave just as good a results with G/F flour as it does with normal :D

I do love my dishwasher, it makes it sooo much easier to keep things safe for him and I seriously couldn't go back to one toaster now! I keep saying to DH, its going to be so strange when he leaves home, our whole lives have revolved around his health! One thing I was told by the dietitian was if I ever did think I had accidently glutenified the boy was to shove as much water down him as I could to try and flush it through his system as soon as possible.

If you ever need G/F help you can always pm me :D

I have no potting news as I havent got a new pot yet :rotfl:

Potted over £6 to the pot today, including my first note! (For some reason I had been reluctant before).

I did the 'ruler' measurement method and I have 3 cms deep x 14 cms wide in coins. I hope it all grows and grows.

Jakes-mum, I think what you do is great. I have a friend who is a coeliac and I'll admit I didn't quite understand initially until i read a book called 'The opposite of Loneliness' which is a collection of essays and stories by a young writer that was published after her early death by her family. In it she writes about being a coeliac and that's where I learnt about the seriousness of it and now understand and would never dream of serving my friend something that had touched my food. We do usually go out to a local place to eat though that is very gluten free friendly.

Thank you for writing your posts. I feel like when I have children if one of them needed a gluten free diet I could turn to you for support and advice.

Thank you for all the congratulations messages :-) it's very exciting but also daunting. Every time I spend now I'm telling myself do I want that or could I save the money instead for the wedding. Pot feels quite heavy so hopefully that will help towards it :-)

    Hi gang.

Been away for a while as I’ve not had much to scrape out of my purse let alone a (now empty) holding pot. I have 2p left from a food shop which has just gone in with a stray £1 from my bedroom floor... (wonder how that got there? Probably fell out of my pocket at some point). Anyway, I’m still here.
Just potting in super slow motion but hoping to pick up the pace as I get more odd bits of work.

Joined Swagbucks today. I'm hoping to make some extra bits so I can put my “real monies” in the pot.

My DH's uncle sent him home today with 2 x £2 coins for me, seems after I bought his previous ones off him he's been looking out for them in his change so he could give them too me :o
