Potted a £1 into my pot, (avoided putting into the vending machine) after a swim at my local pool as I have signed up to Aspire channel swim which starts on September 12th so just getting myself ready.
Its over three months, swim the length of the channel in your own time, in a pool of your choice, raising money for Spinal Cord injury, not quite sure what I have signed up too, but looking forward to the challenge, and an excuse to keep fit and eventually get back under the water and scuba diving again...
If anyone is interested google aspire swim and sign up...

Hello
£12.21 potted today. Not able to pot as often as I'd like to this month, with school uniforms to buy and holidays clubs to pay for, but I'm definitely still here, catching up on posts daily.Whatever it takes.

Welcome back Sue. Glad you had a great holiday.
£17.01 potted this week. My best week by a long way. The £0.01 is Roadkill - I'm now up to 21p in Roadkill.
Was down towards your way yesterday in Shepton Mallett. Had a lovely afternoon down there. Interesting that the 'Cawslaw' you get for your jacket potato at my (Bristol-ish) end of the County becomes 'Coeslaw' as you head south.27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 50 -
I have seperate everything! He has his own toaster which is on a seperate unit, all his oven trays are the same colour so everyone knows its a 'gluten free' tray he has his own shelf in the cupboard for his biscuits and cakes and his food always gets cooked on the top shelf of the oven and served first. Hardest thing is if they are all having fish fingers say, he has to have a different amount to everyone else so I know which plate is his after I serve up :rotfl:
I do tend to buy alot of G/F foods especially as alot of normal foods are actually G/F, but things like sausages and fish fingers are so bloomin expensive I cant feed 4 of us G/F all the time.
I don't make seperate lasagnes or anything though, that is all completely g/f for everyone, and everything (and I mean everything) has to be dishwasher safe so I can make sure its properly clean so I wont accidently contaminate him through not handwashing something properly.
He's been diagnosed over 6 years now so its a bit second nature to me, the worry is when he goes to other peoples houses and they think sticking a fork in their sausages and then his to turn them over is not going to harm him *rolls eyes* I must be doing ok as he has his gluten levels tested every year and the hospital have been very happy with his results the last few years.
Hi sorry I missed this reply when I logged in before. Thanks very much, sounds like it's hard work. I was wondering about making 2 meals eg lasagne like you said, but it is easier just to do one. DD is older so I can get away without sausages etc. and she buys quite a lot of stuff herself - like you said though it's so expensive! My food bills have rocketed and I'm finding its not so much the meals as snacky bits, biscuits, cereal. I'm trying to bake gf but it's a steep learning curve :rotfl:
I deep cleaned the whole kitchen and replaced a lot of stuff I couldn't clean properly eg wooden utensils, baking things, plastics, when she was diagnosed but haven't got a dishwasher so have to hope hand washing is enough when I occasionally use a knife on 'real' bread.
Sorry this has turned into an essay, thanks for your help TDx0 -
Hi, I've just potted a measly £2.82.......... It would have been about £18 BUT I went to the car boot and bought so many bargains including a very dressy Per Una jacket and skirt that will do for my nephews wedding next year. Four pairs of brand new knee high socks and 2 pairs of lamb skin insoles ( thinking winter here ⛄️). Also 5lb strawberries to make strawberry jam later today, a Laura Ashley lamp and 2 DVDs for my grandchildren's Christmas.
So, in my defence I am extremely happy with my bargains and hopefully it will be raining next Sunday, I won't go to the carboot and I will pot lots :rotfl: xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order

Yup, the biscuits are probably my biggest expense as the teen monster can eat his way through an entire pack in one sitting if i'm not watching
With regards to cereal, the Mr T supermarket own brand cereal is the same as their own brand free from range (their ingredients are exactly the same but the cheeky beggers whack the price up for putting free from on the box  ) coeliacs Uk actually list their own brands in their directory as safe to eat.
I also tend to save up for the 3 for 2 offers which are twice a year, once in may for coeliac awareness week and once in november and I spend about £60 on G/F biscuits, oats (for flapjack
), G/F weetabix and cakes which he then has to ration for as long as possible! Does save me a fortune over time, he has literally just come to the last pack of biscuits from his may stash. I also try and bake his cakes/muffins as I found that using the standard 2oz flour/sugar/butter to 1 egg ratio gave just as good a results with G/F flour as it does with normal
I do love my dishwasher, it makes it sooo much easier to keep things safe for him and I seriously couldn't go back to one toaster now! I keep saying to DH, its going to be so strange when he leaves home, our whole lives have revolved around his health! One thing I was told by the dietitian was if I ever did think I had accidently glutenified the boy was to shove as much water down him as I could to try and flush it through his system as soon as possible.
If you ever need G/F help you can always pm me
