MrsC....tobe wrote: »Morning everyone! I've been awol again and I can't find my last post without reading too far but, not sure if I reported that I managed to pot my last £35.61 or whatever it was and that was the penny challenge no1 complete before the end of June! That means that I managed to save over £660 in the first 6 months of the year!
I keep forgetting to get another tin to get started on the second one, must try and remember this weekend.
Had a few expenses so not managing to save much at the moment, we needed to get our mad pup (14 months) his booster, and then the week before we took the old girl to the vets for a check up as she hadn't been right. He scanned her an found an abnormally swollen spleen, to the extent that he couldn't see her heart and lungs. We made the decision to put her to sleep as he reckoned that we would have to do it during the week anyway and we didn't want her to suffer. Absolutely gutted, she was a beautiful girl.
We had her cremated and she is back with her beloved partner of 10 years waiting on us at the bridge, I know they'll be running about happy together while they wait.
Sorry to hear this. My sister-in-law and family had to have their 6-year-old German Shepherd put to sleep about a month ago after they found he had tumours from his neck all down his spine. It was all very sudden and unexpected

A very good afternoon all Potters! :hello: I hope you've all enjoyed the week. Now it's time to prepare for a really lovely weekend!!!
Best wishes to all those who aren't well, here are some special {{{hugs}}} to help you get better soon, for those who may be feeling low too. Rest assured though that your wonderful SPC family are thinking of you. :grinheart
Many congratulations to you with such a superb gain, jakes-mum!!!!!:j Like you I feel very sorry for the person who lost itbut on the other hand....why ever hadn't the owner tried to claim it, it makes you think doesn't it! Perhaps they just weren't aware where they'd lost it.
I'm pleased you're on the way with blanket No 2 and I hope Lily is thrilled to bits with it once it's done.
Very well done on the £3 savings, themstarrynights!! You're obviously finding it hard to save but keep in mind that whatever you do save it'll help out especially at times like Christmas or holidays. Keep struggling and sticking hard to your budget, and well done!
Well done, Florence! Don't worry too much about just when you use change and when you use notes, we can all only do what's possible or best for us so do whatever you find easiest. If you'd sooner have 2 or 3 days a week when you can pot money then change money as and when it's appropriate for you!
ooooh, it's so easy to get caught up in the goings on of tennis and the like eh, Lynne! Didn't they all achieve great things eh!!!! :T Yes Davis Cup next! Well done with your £10er and the 1p....better in the pot than not!!

A lot has happened since I was last on. I'm just completing my 3rd year of college (final exam this week ), I've been retraining for a new career. I also got a part time job in June last year, which I absolutely love :j
Unfortunately, I kept telling myself "I'm working now so I can afford this, that and the other" and have now found myself nearly £7000 in debt. I'm disgusted that I let things get this bad, but think I have finally had my light bulb moment. So onwards and upwards from here!
All the very best to you, Happybeingme, I hope you achieve all you need to do to get that new career underway!! So pleased too you're in a part-time job that you are so happy with! It's one thing to get a job but to get a job you're truly happy doing is brilliant!! :j
Sadly, it's so easy to get lulled into thinking we're almost well off when a job comes along....even more so when credit is so easy to come by; time now to put the brakes on and budget well and be as self disciplined as is possible!!!!I wish you well.
I'm pleased that although you've not been dropping in to see us, 12 month challenge, you're still saving well - that's all that matters - well that and keeping your pot safe too of course!
Lovely to hear that what your Mum paid you back you potted, chickadee, after all what else would you do with it...!!!!
A monster pot of 17p for me...it would've been more but Small had a swimming lesson and I needed to pay the coach contribution.
Ah well...
Ah well, we can't always do things as we'd like, Dizzy Imp, but at least you were able to save some!
Ah well, MrsC....tobe, if you can't remember don't worry, though if you really want to find out you can always look back on your last posts by clicking on you profile. What a sum saved...so far! You're doing just wonderfully!! :T
My heart goes out to you in the loss of your darling dog, though I admire the way you're viewing it, you're right, they'll be so happy together once again. :kisses3:Now to contend with your young pup!
My DS, who is still working in America throughout the summer and having a fantastic time messaged me last week to say he has been awarded a 1st Class Honours Degree. DH says I shouldn't crow, but I'm just so proud of himIt was so unexpected!
In potting news, I have £1.34 to pot tonight :T
You're got a lot to crow about with your DS's latest achievement, siju??!!! :T :j How does a Mother NOT do such a thing! Many congratulations to him again!! You have a very clever lad, bet your DH crows a heck of a lot inwardly.Ah...and you can crow about your savings too!! :rotfl:
Fantastic work, Westie....
......good work for you too, Chutney!!
I hope you had a superb holiday, Dragon Lily, though the weather wasn't great was it? Still, if you're anything like me you make the best of it whatever the weather.
Well saved, Saver-upper, though you sound just a tad cheesed off...are you?!
Well, that's the shopping done, and......£16 in the pot....who's crowing now!!!!!
Ok then folks, you be sure to have a really GREAT WEEKEND!! :j Mind the pots don't suffer!

Afternoon all
Well done everyone with keeping your potting going through the year. I think we're all going to appreciate it come November eh
Sorry to hear your news Mrs C and I agree that it's sometimes so difficult to make, what we know, is the right decision. Your previous post was 2637, page 132
I have potted my weekly £10, rushed to get all my jobs done, had my lunch and sat down to watch the tennis. Still in the first set and............ rain has stopped play

Hi Sue.I am ok.I think I am just a bit tired at the moment.End of the school year, especially with 4 kids,is a very busy time (lots of school plays, special assemblies parents are invited to attend, sports days, etc).I fit it all in by re-arranging to work on the weekend,so it feel like I haven't had a full day off for weeks. But only one more week to go,then it is school hols-many less working hours, many more sleep-ins.
I worked today. Was paid £24 for one job, bought a few things for school lunches tomorrow, then potted the change (£21.30).
I hope everyone is keeping well.Hugs for those who need them xx
