    Seems these badges are less than popular,like most have said we are adults not 4 year olds,sorry MSE bad idea

    It brightens up the forums and adds a little warmth from the team, so I dont really mind them.

    However there are more prevelant issues at the moment that need addressing. We are now a week later and still the post search bug has not been touched. I think the time would be better spent fixing the bugs before awarding them. ;)

    Grow up forum team - this idea stinks! I am quite capable of reading and understanding that I have made 21,338 posts but don't need a little badge to 'know' its more than 10k.
    I preferred to know exactly how many posts were made - and I dread to think of what you are going to come up for 'Thanks' in the future!

    This being the week of Children in Need, surely they could have got Pudsey involved too.

    If there really is a staff member acting as Badger as described, perhaps there are other ways to spot things.

    Some time ago, MSE Martin asked me to contact certain named members of staff if I spotted anything new and interesting in a certain field.

    I gave up bothering after a few unanswered messages. I told Martin so. He replied, personally, it was that long ago.

    What is the point of these badges? They very roughly duplicate information already there. The time and energy which went into setting them up could have been far better spent.

    Sorry, marleyboy, I don't see how they add warmth or brighten up the forum in any way.

    Not bothered either way about the badger's badges but is this the forerunner of MSE going all Twitter and changing the Thanks to Like or a heart icon?

    It is sad that someone with 10,000 posts gets the same badge as someone with 200,000 posts. :(

    I'm not sure whether that's sadder than the fact that you noticed ;-)

    Though, actually, I just saw that Andrea's OP showed a pic of a 100k badge, so don't despair, they're still working away!
