British Gas Collective Fix December 2016

Completed the CEC online form to do the switch.
Have had nothing but trouble.
BG confirm the gas tariff has been changed but tell me the electricity
tariff was not included on the former? .
Strange to change only one when it is a dual fuel deal.
MSE say the form included both fuels.
What is even more annoying is that I am already a BG customer.
I wished I hadn't bothered.0 -
Would someone kindly tell me how to change my address. When I joined CEC I was unable to scroll through the numbers on my street, whatever and however I tried to do it. The list covered 1 to 5 and I live at 10. Whatever I tried it insisted on allocating me 1. As it didn't matter much I stayed with it.
Today I'm trying to switch to the BG tariff and whatever I try it won't work. I've tried manually putting my correct address in, it won't work. I've even tried to re-register with a different e-mail address and all I get is that I am already registered with that e-mail (it's my MSE e-mail and my CEC e-mail is different) and I need to log in. Nothing works and I've wasted 45 minutes at least.
Page one of my application to BG has my address as number 1 and nothing on earth can change it!
Can I PM the MSE rep and have my details removed altogether from CEC and start it all over again - or will it remember me and drive me crackers again?0 -

Hi Schiff
Sorry to hear that you're having some problems with this.
If your property isn't listed on the dropdown after entering you postcode, there's an option on the right hand side for 'my property isn't listed'. This'll allow you to enter and save the first line of your address.
Alternatively if you're really stuck, you can delete your account yourself (scroll to the bottom of the screen) by choosing 'Leave Energy Club', you'd then be able to remove your account and re-register (yes using the same email address).
Just to add, I think you must have two accounts with us, because your registration for CEC is separate from the forum and the weekly email.
Hope this helps.
PS If you need to get in touch, you can do by emailing energyclub AT moneysavirngexpert.com0 -

Hi Kaygee
Just replied to this post on another thread, but just in case you don't spot it we've added an FAQ based on the info which British Gas has provided to us. This should cover the situation you're in.

Thanks Dan L. I'm sorry I should have posted that I had managed to get through eventually, using that facility in fact (though it had failed before). The problem I know was having two e-mails linked to MSE but even so seeing my address as No 1 in a box that I couldn't amend was so frustrating!0 -
My switch over date is today, I was on Sainsburys dual fuel fix Jan 16 paying £91.50pm dd, signed up to the BG collective and this brings my monthly cost down to £67.80 pm dd , add in the £30 cashback and that's a saving of £314 for the year.
Also £200 in credit with Sainsburys that I hope to get back in time for xmas.
Thanks MSE.0 -
I've just received my welcome email ...If you decide to cancel
If you switch to another energy supplier before 2nd December 2016 we’ll charge you an exit fee of £30 for electricity and £30 for gas.
If this happens, we’ll collect these fees before any other amounts you owe us, either from payments you make or from your credit balance.
At the end of the tariff
Before this tariff ends, we’ll write to tell you what will happen next. If we don’t hear from you, we’ll move you to the cheapest variable price tariff (no end date) we have available on 30th November 2016
Thinking ahead ... what is the most MSE way of switching at the end of this tariff? The penalty for switching is there in black and white - but how do I ensure that at the coldest time of the year I am getting the best deal?0 -

You're able to switch penalty-free within the final 49 days of a fixed tariff - so you should be able to submit a switch a few weeks before the end of your collective tariff (either to another British Gas tariff or a change of provider), to help avoid a period of being charged at the standard tariff rate.
Hope this helps.0 -

Yet another of the many things I'm having to sort out at the moment
Do you know who the current supplier is for the new house?
You need to let them know when you take over (even if it's just to make sure the previous tenant's account is closed down to the right date and reading.
You just need to give them the meter reading for when you moved in. If they have a cheap tariff with no exit fee then ask to be put on that. You don't need to tell them you are planning on switching0 -
I am currently on a Sainsburys Bank April 2016 fixed rate... my exit fees are normally £60 for dual fuel. Will I be charged to switch to this new tariff?0
