Ahh, I know, I am panicking about this!!

I only moved into my new home this week, and not too familiar with gas and electric suppliers, I have usually just gone along with what ever was in the property.

Can anyone please answer some questions, then I can complete the form provided by the Energy Club.

    1. My Electric is Direct Debit, and my Gas is Pre-Pay. Do I need to get the Pre-Pay changed to Direct Debit or will this not effect my deal?

    2. When attempting to complete the form via Energy Club, it says there will be a cancelation fee of £30 for gas, and £30 for electric? I thought there is no free for cancelling, but if I put my card details in the form, won't it charge me the £60?

Just elect for Monthly Direct Debit for both fuels on the new contract.
The arrangement on your current arrangement will simply come to an end.

The £30 cancellation charge is for the new contract - ie if you cancel or change it during the period to December 2016. You will need to ask BG if there is a charge for switching out of your current contract. I doubt if there would be if you simply took over the previous owner's contract; there may be if you took out a new contract immediately you moved in to your house.

The coming period is going to be very complex and you will need to keep VERY full records of everything you do and what you are told by BG.

Could I ask MSE Dan L to run their eye over the advice I have given please. Just to confirm I've got it all right.

Thanks very much for your reply.

I bealive I need to have my Gas changed from Pre-Pay to Direct Debit as it will not be dual if not which will mean I won't qualify for the offer.

Correct me if I am wrong with the above, but it explains what I said above in a message on the energy club.

If this is true, then I don't think it would be possible to get the meter box exchanged before the offer expires. Unless I was to apply for the offer now, and have a request put in for the meter to be exchanged ASAP. Not sure if this would work as I wouldn't have the meter changed at the time of application.

I'm getting out of my depth here as I have no experience with Pre-Pay and didn't think about the meter. I suggest you send a PM to MSE Dan L to help out. I'm nervous of suggestion things that may get you in a mess. Best of luck!

Completed the CEC online form to do the switch.
    Have had nothing but trouble.
BG confirm the gas tariff has been changed but tell me the electricity
tariff was not included on the former? .
Strange to change only one when it is a dual fuel deal.
MSE say the form included both fuels.
What is even more annoying is that I am already a BG customer.
    I wished I hadn't bothered.

Hi Kaygee, I'm sorry you feel that way as it's a great deal and I'm sure we can sort any hiccups out. Please just email your details to talktous@britishgas.co.uk, including MSE Forums in the subject line. Thanks, Matt

    hello Matt

Could your invite include YKay as well or are his/her circumstances impossible to allow entry to the MSE tariff?

Could you please help me as I am worried I am going to miss this offer.

The Collective offer does not display when I select that I have one pre pay meter, and one direct debit meter.

I am presuming this means I will not qualify for the offer since I they must both by direct debit.

How can I work around this? Obviously I can exchange my pre-pay meter, but it won't be done before the closing date of the offer in 2 days.

    Could you help me please.

On the British Gas Collective Fix December 2016 tariff, can anyone tell me for certain whether the gas and electricity kWh unit prices (shown for my area as 2.856p and 8.852p respectively) include VAT, please ?

Hi jloy, I'll be happy to double check the prices in your area. Please just email your details to talktous@britishgas.co.uk and include MSE Forums in the subject line. Cheers, Matt

Hi YKay, regrettably you would need to have your meter exchanged before your application, so you wouldn't be eligible for this deal. Although you can't benefit from this deal, I'll be happy to lend a hand in getting your meter changed, so you can benefit from any future deals.
