Shala, the Costa hot chocs are pretty synful! The caramel fudge one that everyone I know is raving about this year is 13.5 syns for a small skimmed milk version without cream! A standard small skinny hot choc is 8 syns so not too terrible, and I always count the milk as HEA. They also have sugar free gingerbread syrup now for future reference in case temptation strikes again.0

Been out to the local city xmas market this morning, it wasn't great.. but we met friends there, they were treating themselves to hot chocs from C0sta
very jealous... so I've come home and made myself a gingerbread hot chocolate - does anyone knows the syns of the Costa ones to compare please?
I used - options hot choc, milk(hea), ground ginger, ginger syrup (1tsp) and squirty cream so I reckon 4-5 syns? Options do a ginger flavoured hot choc but I can't find it in any of the stores around here
They vary depending on what sort of milk, what size, whether you have cream and marshmallows and bizarrely whether you have eat in or take away!! Lowest is 9.5 and highest is 29.5! So whatever they chose you've saved yourself loads of syns.
I think STS over Christmas is a good plan too. That's what I'm hoping for with synful eating on festive occasions and on plan in between:).0 -
maman - thanks for your encouragement! I find that I don't tend to eat very much on Saturdays because I have group at 10.30, so I don't eat before and then it seems to knock onto the other meals, although my main meals tend to be quite large portions!0

I think that I know what my problem is. I only stick to it during the week and then am more relaxed over the weekend. I will have to be more strict after Xmas tho.
Also I don't think I eat enough on some weekdays and I've heard that your metabolism slows down. Is it ok not to have your HEA sometimes? I drink green tea so don't have milk so don't always get it. Have made the SW Mac Cheese ready for tomorrow's tea so that's tomorrow's HEA sorted anyway. Anyone tried it? What's it like?0 -

Debjay - do you keep any of your syns for the weekend? It's not the official SW way but maman and Denise bank their syns for the week and use most at the weekend instead of daily.. both at target so it definitely works! :TMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -

I don't have that many syns during the week so in a way I do bank them for the weekend. I'll definitely keep getting tips on here and look to monitor more seriously after Xmas. Thanks for the useful info I've picked up so far :T0 -
I had a moment of weakness the other day and a big bar of Milky Bar ended up in my shopping. But I'm happy to say that I didn't open it, even when I felt rubbish yesterday, and this morning I put it in the food bank bag. I'm sure that will cheer someone up this Christmas!
That's a really great outcomeThe thought of people going truly hungry always gets to me, especially at xmas
Happy birthday CP!
I'm also hoping to maintain over xmas I think - I want to be able to enjoy it but not so much that I undo all the good work I've done during my first month on SW!

Shala's right that's exactly what denise and I do and I don't think we're the only ones. I'm at target now but it's what I've done since I started as it fits my lifestyle. I like to look forward to weekends as being different to weekdays. The 'official' SW way is that everyone needs a treat to look forward to every day but I'm happy to be very low syn through the week and save them for weekends. So we work to a 105 a week syn 'bank.' When I was getting to target I'd use about 90 syns from Friday evening to Sunday evening and then just eat almost syn free for the rest of the week. Most of what's left would go on gravy or cornflour in some sauces.0 -

What always amazes me is that you can have mincemeat in a baked apple for free if you use as HEX
