Off to join a new group tonight, for me I've decided its what I need right now.

Was going to join after xmas but best to just get started now, see if I can lose something before xmas.
  • Morning all - well done to all the losers, tulip on your SOTM and esp the big group of SOTWs:T:j
Sorry it's late, but could you put me down for -0.5lb last week please Shala.

After a couple of iffy weeks, it feels like am finally getting back on track.....reading the posts here has helped as made me realise we're all human and have slip ups, it's how you pick yourself up and what you do next which counts - so thanks for all the sharing - it really does strike a chord:A

Good luck with new group lantanna. I can understand your thinking - starting new group before Christmas. Hope you get a good group with loads of support.

Lunch today is leftover chicken tikka (SW/Iceland sauce) with loads of added veggies, jacket potato and salad. Cannot decide on fruit or Muller for dessert ... decisions decisions :rotfl:

    Hi all

Sorry I've not been around much - still been sticking to plan though and just been catching up on the thread! Thanks Shala for the chart, and congratulations SOTWs!! I weighed in last night with a 2lb loss :) I'm away next weekend and might not have much control over what I eat - will be as good as possible but very unlikely to be on plan! To combat that I'm trying to be extra good during the week - keeping my syns fairly low, and making all my evening meals SP - fingers crossed that will balance things out!

That being said, I have treated myself to an advent calendar! At 1 syn per day it should hopefully be ok, and helps me feel like I'm in the Christmas spirit! Will open my first door later on :)

In terms of SP, hoping some of you lovely people can help me understand it a bit better. Like I say, I'm making all my evening meals SP this week, but I'm quite confused when it comes to breakfast and lunch - I have pretty much the same things every day and I can't quite work out whether they're suitable for SP. For breakfast I tend to have heB cereal plus speed fruit - do I need to add protein to this if I want to make it SP? For lunch I have couscous snack pots from asda at 1.5 syns, plus speed fruit. Does the fact that this has couscous in mean it's not SP, or does the fact that I'm synning it make it ok?! So confusing!

Also have to say I'm definitely going to be trying the singing swede - I absolutely love mashed swede but rarely have it other than at xmas because it's such a pain to prepare!

Found out yesterday that I will need a procedure which will severely restrict my movement for several months. This started me thinking, (and please I don't wish to sound patronising), how do people with these limitations lose weight if exercise is more difficult? I think I'm going to have to be very careful that this does not impact too much on any losses I have managed.

I hope everyone has a good week and for those that are struggling, I hope things get better soon.Arkers x

You don't actually need to exercise to lose weight with SW - I got to target without exercise and Maman, I think, also didn't exercise to get to target.

The only advice I would give is to not eat through boredom because you can't get out to exercise - only eat enough so you don't feel hungry. I know it can be easy to eat when you are bored - if you find you must eat something then try veg sticks perhaps with a syn free dip such as quark with some garlic and herbs in it.

    HTH.

Good on you lantanna - good idea to join before Christmas, may help you to be more mindful of what you are eating over the next few weeks.

For SP I think your breakfast is fine because you are having your HEB.

I would say your lunch is definitely not SP because of the couscous as you're not supposed to have carbs on SP days and although the couscous pot you have is synned it would be a tweak - pretty much the same as if you have a synned yoghurt - you can have it if you really want to but it is still a tweak.

As is often said on here having SP meals, even if you don't have SP days, is better than nothing as you'll get the Speed foods in.

    Hope that makes sense!

Well done to my fellow SOTWs and SOTMs! :j

    Today...
Breakfast - Weetabix with berries and quark. Should have had granola, this combo didn't work :rotfl:
Lunch - Leftover chicken and ratatouille
Dinner - Pulled pork, SP mash and veg

Picked up some scanbran in H&B today, so might try the SW carrot cake for pudding to use my other HEB.

There is a saying around other slimming communities that weight loss is 80% what goes in, 20% what goes out. I wasn't able to exercise at all last week due to an injury then that cold, and still got a good loss just by sticking to plan. I do like to exercise but it is mostly for fitness and overall mental health, than for the numbers on the scale.

Your breakfast is OK, since you're using your HEs. SW doesn't seem to mind only having speed with those on SP. But I would try and have some days with a "proper" SP breakfast, e.g. a veggie omelette, beans (count as P) and tomatoes on toast, etc.

Cous cous (or basically anything grain based) isn't allowed on SP, synned or not. It's OK to use some packet things that may have a few syns for the flavour (e.g. pre-cooked flavoured meats) but the bulk of it must be an SP food.

Things like chocolate and such which are fully synned are fine to continue having! It's really only the free but not SP foods you have to restrict, such as yoghurt, rice, pasta, potatoes (both white and sweet), bananas, grapes, etc.

Thanks Denise and June - I thought that was probably the case but I was getting a but confused! I'm happy enough just doing SP evening meals for this week but at some point I do think I'll try "full" SP!

Thanks for your replies June and JD, For the first few weeks I will not be able to move much as I will be off my feet, so going from being reasonably active to not moving at all I will have to watch any boredom eating and try and not think about food! Which will be difficult for me as it fills my thought process quite a lot.

Saving the box sets for marathon TV watching....still it's not for several weeks yet, so will have time to move more in the meantime. x
