We both prefer a corned beef hash with baked beans! Think I might try the Austrian has but substitute corned beef for the ham and see if that makes any difference. Think today's could have done with a bit more paprika as couldn't really taste it.

Definitely looking forward to LOs tomorrow for lunch.

I got up early this morning and made a huge pot of pork, cabbage and cider hotpot (featured on the give away calender) as DD and her husband were coming for lunch. I also cooked asparagus, broccoli, carrots and cauliflower as a side dish so lots of speed.

They loved it and I froze two portions for another dd and a portion for me is in the fridge.

I have tried to stop guessing at syns. I bought a cooked ring of pork sausage(Matt**ons) thinking it was low syn but found a quarter of it was five syns so only had that amount with pickles and a mugshot tonight. At least I am now looking up the syns even if it is after I buy stuff!

    Hi all,

After my previous post about hitting a weight plateau, I am posting with an update.
13 weeks have passed and I am still on the weight plateau along with my Mum.
We have tried varying our diet without weight loss or weight gain.
We have decided to do something radical, we are stopping the SW plan, then restarting it in February. This should give our bodies to experience foods not usually eaten when on the SW plan.
We are still going to be disciplined as we never binge on food, we are just getting our bodies ready for the next phase (maybe it needs some more Fat etc. To shock it out of its current phase).
This year has yielded fantastic losses and STS'es.

I will still monitor the forum though to see if I can chip in some useful snippets :)

Cheers all, well done on all the great losses all.

  • Hi there.

I am usually just a lurker. I have been on the SW plan for a while now (see my signature) and am doing well with a loss every week, this week was 1.5lb (I weigh in on a Saturday).

Am doing ok with breakfasts and lunches, but occasionally struggle with my tea/dinner. I don't always have time to cook from scratch, if I do, it's usually at the weekend, as we both work FT.

I don't think I am eating enough speed foods, but don't want to overload on fruit.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I want to get my 3 stone award by Xmas!

Good to hear from you again smedley but sorry to hear you're still stuck on that plateau. It'll be interesting to hear how you get on with your plan. Do report back.:)

That's great that you have regular losses but you're absolutely right that keeping up the Speed is essential. I'd also agree that it's best to go for veg when you can. My first thought if you have a bit more time at weekends is batch cooking. I always have HM ready meals in the freezer for days when I'm rushed in the evening. I'd suggest Bolognese sauce and chilli as the obvious ones but cook them with loads of Speed in so then all you have to cook is your pasta or rice. My Bolognese has diced carrot, peppers, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes and sometimes courgette and celery so all Speed except for the meat and the chilli's the same plus the red beans.

I'm sure others will give you more ideas. Is it more that you can't be bothered when you get home after a long day or that you need something ready really quickly? A meal like sausage and mash doesn't take long if you prep the veg the night before. IMO that's the two keys to SW: planning and Speed!!:)

    Morning all :)

Really not feeling great, I want to bed at 9 o'clock and slept through till 8, rather restlessly. DH has come down with something too, he spent the night sneezing and coughing and has decided against golf today. What a pair of crocks we are!

Happy to report in with a loss of 1lb.

Good luck to everyone with your wIs whenever they are.

    Have a good week.

If you are on Facebook there's a group called Syns Allowed and there are lots of suggestions for meals you can make in a hurry that you might find useful - you will find you pay more for meals though, so maybe have a couple each week for nights when you're particularly rushed. Otherwise, preparing in advance can save a lot of time as Maman said.

Abbafan - as usual Maman is absolutely right about the 2 keys to SW - planning & Speed. Also doing batch cooking at weekends.

If you have a slow cooker then you could prep food at night and then just pop into the SC in the morning and switch on before going to work. You'll then have a meal ready for that night, apart from some potatoes, rice, pasta, couscous etc to go with it.

If you do quick meals like sausage & mash as Maman suggested then use frozen or tinned veg to go with it. It only takes a few minutes to cook either of them.

Another thing it's worth doing is to prep loads of fresh veg like onions mushrooms and peppers and then open freeze on a tray; once frozen bag up and then you can just a handful of any of them to whatever you're cooking.

    Hope these ideas help.

Today's going to a busy one so having a fairly easy cooking today:

B - scrambled eggs on toast
L - LO Austrian ham hash
D - lamb tagine (using up LO roast lamb) - hope it works using cooked lamb as usually use raw. Usually do in SC but going to do it in the oven in a casserole dish today as won't be able to get it ready until lunchtime as meat needs to sit in the spices for several hours and only did that this morning.

    HEA - 300ml 1% milk
    HEB - 60 WM bread

Have been really good with regard to syns this weekend and haven't got over as I usually do! No idea what to have for syns today but think I might treat myself to some curly wurlys - love this straight from freezer and haven't had one for ages.
