Aww b e g hugs to you and your poor Mum Well done to your Brother this really needs to be looked into its outrageous to think an 88 year old was left to suffer in extreme pain. She must be really upset at missing her sisters funeral too. hope she makes a quick recovery.Slimming World at target0 -
Hello,
Please can I join in the challenge? I'd like to lose 10 lbs
I have previously done Slimming World, lost over a stone then put it all back on again through studying for my MA. I graduated last December and have been gaining and losing and gaining again. I can't afford to join SW at the moment as I was forced to resign from my main job six weeks ago and am on a very low wage now. I still have all the books (including the new programme).
I managed to lose 4lbs a couple of weeks ago but then I started having counselling sessions and went back to comfort eating as a way of coping with the painful stuff that was coming up. For a long time, food has been the only thing that makes me feel happy. But then I look at my body and feel ashamed. I've put on 5lbs over the weekend and am now the heaviest I've ever been. I want to feel good about my body again, instead of hating it and feeling depressed.
I'm hoping to do SW using this thread for inspiration and instead of going to a meeting, post on here. I really want to get this weight off for good!
Please can I join you all?0 -
:T that's an excellent loss lois. What a great start to your fresh start in Spain:).Need to keep the syns low from now until WI on Thursday morning, as usual!
Denise
That seems a regular weekly refrain from you and me!:rotfl:
I bought two packs of beetroot this week as I always seem to run out. I need to buy in cornichons and hopefully there'll be some offers on pickled cabbage leading up to Christmas.
I so agree with you lantanna about not getting obsessed with what you can and can't eat. I think at the start you need to think hard about it until you've got your head around the plan and which foods are the healthiest but after that then it's just got to become a default position/way of life. I've always done meal planning for mse/organisation so the main difference now is that when I write my plan it's a week of healthy meals.
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Grapefruit, baked beans, HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks
L: cold lamb with fried veg and beetrootsavoury mince, new potatoes, cabbage and carrots
Syns: scrape of spread and maybe some 70% chocolate0 -

You're very welcome and the lovely shala will add you to the list.
I know food can be comforting but the good feeling you'll get from losing weight is even better. And it sounds like you could do with being in control of something in your life right now. Congratulations on getting your degree by the way.:)
Meal planning can also be very mse (no waste or buying rubbish). If you've got the books and know the plan it'll be easy to do SW without going to group. There's a number on here (like tweets) who don't go to group either so it can be done.
I'd suggest you post your menus and ask all the questions you want.:)0 -
I saw someone on Instagram the other day who had lost a significant amount of weight and then I looked at their meals. Baked beans with a tomato, quorn sausages with broccoli only, a bowl of soup which looked like water there was nothing in it.
I read something yesterday a quote that said the happiest / healthiest weight you can be is the one that you are healthy whilst having the best life you possibly can.
Something to that effect. Guess that's what I'm trying to do now. Hmmm a year on from a big loss and this is where I find myself. Hopefully everything falls into place soon0 -

Thanks so much Maman!
I appreciate the welcome and good advice. You are right, I need to feel like I have control over my eating again and I'm at the point where I can see the good feeling from eating only lasts for a few minutes whereas losing weight and feeling happy about my body could potentially last for years. I'm going to sit with all my old books and the SW magazines I kept and try and come up with a meal plan today then do a shop.
I've just used the HE list on the first page of this thread and had 35g gluten free porridge oats made up with Unsweetened Soya Milk (from my 400ml for the day) as my HE's. I chopped a banana into it and had green tea with it too.
Lunch will be some SW mini quiches and salad. Luckily, I found a tub of fat free cottage cheese at the back of the fridge and was inspired to
make one of my old SW favourites. I put red onion, tomato and mushroom into the egg/cottage cheese mix and some garlic and chilli salt and they are in the oven now.
Dinner will be LO mince and mash from yesterday and veg, probably Brussels sprouts or cauliflower (or both!). The mince is less than 5% fat and there is some gravy powder in the mince. I can't remember just how much so I'm going to allow 5 syns to cover it to be on the safe side as I know it's likely to be much less than that. I have one of the new Apple Strudel Mullerlights for afters.
I will probably have a gluten free biscuit at some point today with a soya milk coffee. Am I right in saying its roughly 20 calories for 1 syn?
I'm recording everything in my fabulous Diet Doodle Diary from The Works. It's a fun book and I think will help to keep me motivated.
It's great that this thread exists. That fopperholic website mentioned in the first post is fantastic!0 -
BEG so sorry to hear about your mom and the weekend.. hope she recovers quickly xxHow are you getting on Shala? Are you still going to the gym?
I'm doing awfully and I've not been to the gym since September...
I seem to have a couple of days of determination and then end up stuffing my face with pizza..
Think since my lowest weight I've put on 9lbs..that's why i haven't been posting much, just annoyed at myself and OH, we're like Food junkies  one of us mentions something and we HAVE to have it..
Interesting discussion on obsessing about food.. definitely happens here.
Miss independent - I've added you on, good luck and welcome to the board... :wave:Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -

Welcome Miss Independent.
Can totally relate to the comfort eating. When I was in my early 20's I had counselling and during that period I became my biggest size yet (around 18/20). It was very tough going, but the comfort in food outweighed what I was going through psychologically. Good luck with everything, and post frequently here. You will get fab motivation from everyone. They are such a lovely bunch!
Shala i'm with you. After a STS last week and most definitely a gain this week (will post later after weigh-in) I have totally lost my way. Ate 2 giant m&m cookies for dinner :rotfl:
Must be something in the air!
