Evening all :) Hope you're all doing good. Been busy with Christmassy stuff so not been posting much, but have still been reading. Congrats to SOTW and all other losers, and welcome to the new faces!

Weighed in last night with a 2.5lb loss :j Not really sure how I managed it but not going to complain! Not sure how long it will last though - went a bit off plan on Sunday, and succumbed to a Chinese takeaway this evening :o Worst thing is, I didn't even enjoy it! (But also didn't eat too much, so hopefully not too much damage done). I'm out for a curry on Friday night for an xmas do, but going to try and stay on track between now and then.

Read this article recently on taking a break from your diet which I found quite interesting: http://www.lifehacker.co.uk/2015/12/09/why-you-should-plan-an-occasional-break-from-dieting-and-how-to-do-it Don't think I'm quite at the stage where I need to do this yet but definitely something I'm going to bear in mind.
  • The brisket shala came from Lidl and was around £2 per kg cheaper than our butchers. We have had it before and have never been disappointed. We are planning on doing it for Boxing Day when DS and Co land over for tea. Will serve it in big floury bread buns with some Aunt Bessies chips. :p. I have been fancying a leg of lamb but decided against it due the amount of freezer space required. Durham is another one who as gone quiet - if you're reading Durham :hello:

    Helloooo shell :)

No need to sidle in orlao - come on in. I managed a 1.5 gain sticking to plan . Pity you hadn't enjoyed it though. I do think that once you start with the alcohol it is so difficult to stop the nibbling :rotfl:. Good luck for next week.

Pleased to say that the weather has improved since the weekend although we have had a lot of fog and dampness around. It has been quite mild too.

Just a word of warning about taking a break from your diet - I did just that in October, gained 7 lbs and I'm still trying to lose it.

SW Like to promote their plan as a lifestyle, not a diet, and I do believe the only way to lose weight steadily and keep it off is to keep following the plan.

  • Just checking in to say went to weigh in today and am afraid and ashamed to say I put on 4.5lbs! I'm not quite sure why I can't get my head in the game at the moment and I think I probably deserved it after weeks off plan. Feeling really down but know I've only myself to blame. I'm a stress and comfort eater so need to recognise my triggers and come up with strategies I guess. Anyway two good things firstly I went, found out the damage so now I know where I stand and secondly went to a kick boxing class straight after weigh in so at least I've started a fresh week with good intentions. Am hoping that now I know where I am ill be able to reign it in a bit more to lose something next week before Christmas. We'll see such a crazy week coming up with lots of nights out.

I've not read the article referred to yet but I agree with that. Whenever I take a break I seem to put on in vast amounts but I guess it depends on how you behave while on a break. I seem to eat everything in sight!

I've not read the article yet but I will. I have to agree with lois though in that SW is my default position in that I follow the plan most of the time to maintain. I do take a break occasionally but it tends mostly to be only for the odd meal out or perhaps the longest time is when I'm on holiday. I haven't really followed the SW advice on maintaining (have more HEXs) as I prefer to have more syns;). But I don't just eat more crisps or chocolate, I just have a couple of off plan meals with full fat chips or a cheese board or bread roll and butter.

I'll definitely have some off plan food over Christmas. I've started thinking exactly what I'll enjoy most so that I can prioritise it. So far on my list is a Chinese on Sunday, dauphinoise potatoes with loads of cheese probably Christmas Eve and New Year, a fish supper some time and I'm eating the batter, a portion of Christmas pudding, extra bread for turkey sandwiches with crisps, and probably an Indian with bhajis and samosas.:eek::eek: I think I'll be doing SP all through January.:rotfl:

Sticking head round door to say all is well here; life is just getting in the way (which is why I'm posting at 3 am!). I've not been near a scale and am not watching/balancing my food intake. I have been eavesdropping but not closely enough to comment/respond. Nice to see so many fresh faces dropping in.

Hi, just thought I would check in. Am mainly a lurker and rarely post here.

Had a great weight loss this week (-5lb) and got my 2.5st award! Am only 4lb away now from my 3st.

Had my works do on Saturday night after my weigh in, which is Saturday morning. Am hoping that I haven't done too much damage with the meal. Have been strictly on plan since Monday and am hoping for a decent result this Saturday. We are weighing in on Boxing day, but there is no stay behind. Have booked it as a holiday, in case I can't make it, so I don't lose a week, as I've got a 12 week plan. But might still go though and you never know I might achieve that 3st!

What does it mean when people write here "SP"?

Wishing everyone a great weight loss. See you soon. x
