£1.78 TT'd this morning and day 3 of 3 for packed lunches this week. Definitely getting a bit sick of that soup now! Dinner last night was an omelette made with eggs I buy off my colleague, as he has chickens and their eggs are DELICIOUS :) All very cheap and cheerful!

Very nice. :) I'm in the midst of reorganising my pension funds, hoping to get a better return than previous years.

Once I get confirmation of my new contract I'll be joining my work's pension.
There is something very special about eggs straight from the chicken. I made 2 cakes once - one with shop bought eggs and one with super fresh eggs and the cake with the fresh eggs was much more yellow interestingly!

Same here - have to set up a meeting with my advisor and get it sorted. Not earning much in returns.

  • :hello: Hello

It must be hard when your OH goes away for long periods of time, especially with no comms, I get worried when my oh isnt home/doesnt call and he only works a 5 minuite walk down the road!

I love fresh eggs too, we are working on building a chicken shed and every time I buy eggs I give myself a stern talking to about not having it finished yet!

It sounds like you will have a busy next few years with your plans, especially your wedding, how exciting!

    Good luck :)

Nice to see you found my diary Hannah, thank you :) I'd love to have chickens one day so I can't wait to follow your chicken adventure in the mean time - chop chop get on it! :p

It's been a while since I posted but that's because I've been away on holiday; 4 days in the West Country and 4 days with the in-laws on the Eastern coast. It's been glorious to just relax and see new things! Did some hiking, visited the Eden project, had lots of cream tea etc. It's been pretty full on though so can't really say I feel well rested :o.

BUT! Tomorrow is my last day at work and then I've got until the 11th before I have to start again :j. Plenty of time to rest then (read: paint the bedroom and other DIY bits..).

In money news, it's been both good and bad. Good as we had our third ever round of A!rbnb guests around, earning us a tidy sum of £188 (after fees) for just 3 nights - that's actually over £500 we've made with the help of that website since Xmas! That nicely covered the diesel to West Country and back plus the cost of the flat WE rented via A!rbnb whilst out there (did I mention we took our cat with us on holiday? :D). Another good bit is that my 123 account yielded £20 this month.

In terms of "bad" it's just that we had our quarterly service charge which I'm still not used to paying and it's always a shock how expensive it is  and obviously our stay in West Country wasn't free so there was a fair bit of spending whilst out there. Ah and most importantly for me, I didn't get paid this month as I have to pay back my study costs before I leave the company + I had to pay the company an extra £900 as my salary didn't cover all of it... I'll get it back from the new employer but god knows when - in the mean time my account is looking a bit sad :(

Hang tight for the money to be reimbursed, at least you know it is coming just have to wait a little first.

I'm hearing loads about Airbnb at the mo- how does it all work? Sorry if you've already explained it, I'm reading your diary from back to front :D

Hi Kittenkirst! It's pretty straightforward thankfully - you can let out a room or your entire flat/house via the website for whichever dates you want. The website guides you on price and you can check the map for nearby lets to see how they are priced in comparison. When guests ask to stay with you, you can speak to them to find out more about them or rely on the ID verification they have provided A!rbnb with to make you feel safer about letting them stay. If you don't feel comfortable with them you can just decline the request :). The website charges a small fee per transaction (e.g. for my £188 fee last week it had been £195 before charges) and take care of deposits/transfers on your behalf. Easy peasy!:j

OH and I just put the flat up for when we know we're going to be away anyway so it's no bother for us:beer:

Omg yes!! I finally won against €on! I called them yesterday and asked to raise a complaint. The complaints team subsequently fixed my gas meter reading dispute - or so I thought until I got a revised bill this morning that said they were going to charge us £622 for gas , with us owing them £340 or so pounds. So I had to restart the dispute today (my god I hate these phone calls) and it's been resolved with us now being over £300 in credit!

In start of the month news, I seem to have knocked 22p off my daily interest on the mortgage since I last checked in January, which I'm pleased about. That's nearly 7 pounds less interest per month to pay! Baby steps :T

Well done with E0n. :) And yes, every little bit does help - that's £7 more of your regular payment that goes to principal now.
