Unfortunately not as good now as it was. Long waits on the phone, ticket system for help all but removed and help from Plusnet CRT on Community forums becoming less and less. Many long standing customers seem to be leaving too.

That's a shame. as they were the only ones I thought of moving to when my contract ends. They had a good CS reputation and the fact that there would not be an 'apology' culture with their operatives was an attraction to me. Also the Yorkshire accent was easier on the ear than the Mumbai one.

The best CS I received from TT was from the South African Office but I don't know if any staff are still based there.

I use online chats for information on services, like Sky, Argos etc. I don't know if it would suit my communications with TT as they tend to be lengthy and I cant type very fast. OK Google would be handy then!

I know nothing of Virgin as they never cabled my area. I wish to have unlimited internet and anytime landline calls from the same provider and at a price not much greater than TT.

I called Virgin and waited a while on the phone before I got speaking to a sales assistant in the Philippines. I provided my post code so she could check if they provided a service in my area, I waited for about 5 minutes and then the line went dead. Not a great example of their service.

    Can anyone suggest another provider?

how does 5GB over copper pairs (ropey wires as you describe them) grab you

BT has achieved speeds of 5Gbps using a copper connection in early lab trials of a more advanced version of G.Fast, claiming the tests show the technology is futureproof against future customer demands.

The company has been testing ‘XG.Fast’ with Alcatel Lucent at BT’s research and development facility at Adastral Park in Suffolk, with the record speed reached on a 35 metre copper cable.
BT says XG.Fast also provides a significant speed boost over longer distances, with 1.8Gbps reported over a 100m wire. Most UK properties are within this range of their nearest cabinet.
    G.Fast record

G.Fast is set to be deployed to ten million homes and businesses across the UK over the next five years, boosting speeds to 500Mbps without the need to deploy fibre to the premise (FTTP

    Update from TT
Since the cyber attack on our website on Wednesday 21st October 2015, we have been working with the Metropolitan Police Cyber Crime Unit and world leading cyber crime and security experts, to establish what happened and to understand the extent of the data stolen during the attack. Our investigation continues, but we now know the extent of the data accessed is significantly less than originally suspected.
We can now confirm that the following personal data were accessed:
    • Less than 21,000 unique bank account numbers and sort codes.
    • Less than 28,000 obscured credit and debit card details. As previously stated, the middle 6 digits had been removed and therefore are not usable for financial transactions e.g. 012345 xxxxxx 6789.
    • Less than 15,000 dates of birth.
    • Less than 1.2 million email addresses, names and phone numbers.
As we have previously confirmed, the credit and debit card details cannot be used for financial transactions. As an extra precaution, we have shared the affected bank details with the major UK banks so they can take their usual actions to protect accounts in the highly unlikely event that a criminal attempts to defraud them. We can also reassure you that no TalkTalk My Account passwords were accessed.
    Continue to keep yourself protected
Our offer of 12 months free credit monitoring alerts is still available. We would encourage you to sign up to Noddle, one of the leading credit reference agencies, using the code TT231.
Even though the scale of the attack is significantly smaller than initially suspected, we would also advise you to be vigilant, and to take all precautions possible to protect yourself from scam phone calls and emails. We want to make customers aware that we will not call or otherwise contact you regarding this incident and ask for bank details or other financial or personal information.
TalkTalk will also NEVER: • Ask for your bank details to process a refund. If you are ever due a refund from us, we would only be able to process this if your bank details are already registered on our systems.
    • Call customers and ask you to download software onto your computer, unless you have previously contacted TalkTalk, discussed and agreed a call back for this to take place.
    • Send customers emails asking you to provide your full password. We will only ever ask for two digits from it to protect your security. png.png Once again, we want to reassure you we are taking every precaution to keep your information safe. If you have any questions, please visit www.talktalk.co.uk/secure or call us on 0800 083 2710. png.png On behalf of everyone at TalkTalk, I would like to apologise to all our customers. We know that we need to work hard to earn back your trust and everyone here is committed to doing that. Yours sincerely, Dido-signatureSMALL.jpgpng.png Dido Harding

I know MSE is coming up with ways to leave Talk Talk but to whom? How do MSE know know one else will be subject to hacking? They haven't suggested any alternative providers for increased security purposes. It just seems like they've jumped on something to cause alarm for the sake of it without providing any REAL safe alternative. Without this then to be honest there is really no real need to switch if they can't prove why another provider is more secure.

I had to laugh when Dildo Harding made this comment ... "I'm a customer myself of TalkTalk, I've been a victim of this attack." And she's the Chief Executive. Oh well that makes it all right then.

    Keep digging that hole lady!
On a lighter note, will Oblivion Enterprises be offering Ms Harding their top of the line hole digging equipment (aka a chuffing big spade) at special prices? :D

How did you avoid speaking to Shane in India?
Did you select "I'm thinking of leaving TT"
Hi, By phoning, and when auto asks what you require help with I said," Cancellation", then got Preston.
Funny though, he was called Umer, after 5 minutes of good coversation, I asked what the weather was like in India, he said "it's pouring down, I'm in Preston", to which we both had a laugh.
    Thought the line was clear:rotfl:
Later, I phoned again, they turned caller display off, said the same thing, got India.Next time, SA.
