  • Morning all,

Following the TalkTalk data hack, has anyone managed to cancel their contract without any charge? If so, please do let me know by emailing news@moneysavingexpert.com.

    Many thanks, MSE Paloma
  • Just had another call from the T.T scammers.
Have been getting a few calls lately from scammers pretending to be from T.T about my broadband. Number unavailable, they knew my name.
Apparently T.T can do nothing about them.
    Extremely annoying to say least.
Anyone know the e-mail for the CEO???

I`ve been having calls from the scammers nearly every day since the last hack in August.
As soon as they open their mouths it`s pretty obvious who they are.
The story is about a virus through your TT router, yawn, yawn
  • Talk Talk HACKERD!

So here it is in a nutshell every day I go online to check my Bank Account for any suspisious activity also I am not to answer my telephone because if I do so I could be talking to a SCAMMER! But mind you Talk Talk have my best interest at heart they are offering me a FREE Credit check for 12 months (only). All this is very distressing!

TalkTalk attack is not a sophisticated assault by a nation state or organised crime, but a crude stick-up from crooks demanding a ransom to go away. What's more, it is the third such attack TalkTalk has suffered this year.
Lawyers said the company could face “huge” compensation claims. Tim Smith, partner and head of technology at BLM, the insurance law group, said it was “quite probable that customers will sue for a breach of the Data Protection Act and a breach of confidence and privacy rights”.
Customers can claim for distress — rather than financial loss — after a recent change in the law, he said, “which is set to have a dramatic impact in this instance”.
He said that the financial liability was difficult to ascertain, but that “the cost of replacing four million credit cards, plus credit monitoring for a year, plus claims for distress could be in excess of £20m alone”.

But the hackers don't have the full card numbers, so why should we (or our debit/ credit card providers) replace the cards? Too much panic going on here.
