I don't have any sort of emergency fund, and my employer has been all over the news recently as they are on the verge of liquidation, so I could be out of a job soon. I still have lots of debts to pay, but interest free until 2021. If everything goes well with my job, I'm hoping to get some savings together as well as pay debts off within the next 2 years. Or in the worst case scenario, at least save a few hundred pounds before I'm jobless.
I feel for you, it must be very stressful... Fingers crossed you will either keep your current job or find another one easily!0 -
Please could I join?
My emergency fund goal is £1,500 and I’m currently on £260. I work part time due to health issues so I’m currently receiving esa/housing benefit. With all the Government changes I’m quite worried about being moved over to the new benefits system and not having a safety net in place so have started saving up now just incase my situation suddenly changes.CC Debt:£450 Emergency Fund: £1,500 Sealed Pot Challenge 2020 #042: £750 -

Hi all,
Long time lurker here but need to get back on track and want to ask if I may join this challenge please?
Long story short.. Saved 15k on my own for deposit for flat with ex 2015, ex removed from mortgage this April (:j) so finally in my own name but after working soo hard to save and be in control of my money the stress of it all and solicitor fees have decimated my funds (£16.5k owed to parents and maxing out my OD at £1700!) scary times.
My flat is being listed on the 23rd and when sold will be able to pay everyone back and my OD off soon as I receive the money as I've managed to improve the property by £80k approximately.
That being said I am trying to get a grip back on my spending habits and want a nice nest egg too stop me going back into my OD again (and I wont feel so guilty about treating myself and BF to a weekend away to celebrate)
3 months for me would be £4,800 (may I make it £5k please?)0 -

Pay day! :T
I've opened my emergency fund with £299, my monthly target is approx £56. This month I've transfered £79.
Total so far: £378/£30000 -
Dreamer Helen, can I sign up for the 3-6 month challenge?
I’ve calculated my basic outgoings for a month are £650 (rent, x2 direct debits, phone credit, tv & music subscriptions)
For 3 months x650 = £1950
For 6 months x650 = 3900
As I’m working towards my £1000 emergency fund and I’m drawing close to the end of that, I want to set up a new goal.
Excited to get started on 3 month goal :money:Goals:
Debt Free on 1st February 2019 - goal reached
Emergency fund £1000/ £1000 - goal reached January 2020
3-6 month emergency fund challenge - £4100/£5000 - target date August 20200 -
