3-6 Month Emergency Fund Challenge!!

Hi all! I am beyond excited! I feel like I’m in cloud 20! :j:j:j
Hubby and I sat down to re-visit our monthly budget after a big weekly food shop and petrol top-up and realised that I have miscalculated our original December budget. Instead of £2100 EF, we actually have £3172! I don’t know how I have missed £1K! I supposed to be plus £1K than minus £1K:eek::rotfl:
The second good news is, OH’s and my life assurance plans have matured and we have been told that we are going to receive £10K in the next few days! We will probably use some of the money to fund some of the much-needed renovation projects in the house but majority will be kept in the bank as EF. I will update once the insurance payout has hit the bank and we know for sure which projects we will be doing first.
These are just what I need to cheer me up after the “storm” my family and I have had to endure recently. I can’t believe the rainbow is already in sight. And sooner than I expected!"There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150 -

Mum has been paid!!!
:T
I rang her with a sad voice, telling her I wouldn't be able to pay her £100 a month anymore.
She got all worried and asked if everything was okay and what was wrong.
Then I told her it was because I had already transfered the remainder into her bank :rotfl:I'm an evil child.
Helen, please delete my 'Mums Fund' target and re-adjust my EF target. I'm starting at £0, and aiming for £5000.Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

Definately, it was only when I rang her that she told me the car was in the garage and costing them £300ish, amongst other unexpected costs. So it looks like it was repaid at the right time

Hello, can I join this challenge too please? I would like to aim for £3000. I don't have any sort of emergency fund, and my employer has been all over the news recently as they are on the verge of liquidation, so I could be out of a job soon. I still have lots of debts to pay, but interest free until 2021. If everything goes well with my job, I'm hoping to get some savings together as well as pay debts off within the next 2 years. Or in the worst case scenario, at least save a few hundred pounds before I'm jobless.Barclaycard: 4220.58. Tesco Bank: 2550. MBNA: 420.57. Loan: 430. Student Loan overpayment: 480. Family: 500.
