fruitloop04 - You're doing AWESOME!! I've Updated the First Page...Am I right in thinking that you now have £1000 in your Emergency Fund? That's INCREDIBLE!! Keep it going hun...You WILL get there and it might not take you 2 years at this rate!! xXx :)
  • It's understandable that you're feeling tired, Helen. I hope you can relax over the next day or two as we don't want you to get run down and jeopardise your health again, Take care xxxx

OH's sister died suddenly last weekend, it was a massive shock to all as she was always so fit and healthy and hadn't seen a GP for years. It looks like an aneurism but PM details not available yet. She was only the same age as me too.

We're going to the funeral whenever it is and as it's as far as possible between where we live and her home on the most western tip of Pembrokeshire we'll have to stay overnight in a hotel/B&B for a couple of nights at least. Plus, I'll have to pay to put the cat into a cattery for several nights, then there's the flowers (I hope OH will pay half for them) and all sorts of essentials that I'll need. All in all it's going to be a very expensive few days so rather than dip into my 3-6 month EF pot I'm going to spend the money that I was going to add to my EF at the end of September. I did quite well in September, another small PPI payment:j amongst a few other things. If that doesn't cover it I'll have to dip into it but for now I'll leave my total as it is please, Helen.

carbootcrazy - Oh hun, I'm so sorry to hear your sad news....Please don't worry about not putting extra money into the EF...this is definitely much more important....I hope you can be as good to yourself and take care of yourself as much as you can. Thank you for your words...I'm doing okay...I'm on the Night Shift again tonight but I had a MUCH needed afternoon off on Sunday...which was really lovely....Although I DID find it hard not to work, it's very strange being at home and not working...LoL...But I'm off to Disneyland Paris for Halloween on 31st October just for a couple of days so I will definitely be taking time off then.... xXx :)

Dobbibill - How are you doing hun? Hope all is well with you xXx :)
  • Hey guys, not been on for a while. Apologies for that

So sorry to read your news CBC, just awful. I hope you and your family are doing as well as you can be xx

My savings have become a little complicated as I’ve split pots out for things I’m saving for (ie holiday which I know needs to be paid soon) so my standard EF is £1100 and my other savings combined now stand at £3545.87

Even I can’t get my head around it!

    Hi All,

Helen - I'm OK but my OH has been unwell so been focused more on him over the last month.

My savings are due to alter over the next few days as I have some travelling to do for work and although my car is new, I have some spending to do on it for a new timing belt (I always change it when I have a new car as a precaution) so this will drop by a few hundred pounds, so worth it in the long run though.

My second fund I have decided to do at the same time but am changing the target to £1000 - this is purely for the car so I can keep the two separate rather than keep dipping into my first EF for any repairs/tyres/MOT etc after using a big chunk of it for my new car a few months ago. This will start towards the end of this month at approx £50 pcm.

    #2 Update
    Target #1 £3498.15/£9000 aka 38.87%
    Target #2 £0/£1000 aka 0%

I'll update it again in a few days when the timing belt job is done ;)

    Keep on keeping on everyone

    Dobbi :D

    Hello All!! :)

Back on the Night Shift again tonight....I'm starting to feel a little tired but I know that after Midnight I will get my second wind so I'm looking forward to that point...

I'm starting to put some time off in place each Week....After this coming Friday Afternoon I won't have a Client on a Friday Afternoon so after seeing my Clients locally on Friday Morning I can come home and relax for the Afternoon (this could change if I get more Clients across the other side of London)....plus I'm trying very hard to take Sunday Afternoon's off if I can....but I also have my Trip to Disneyland Paris in October and I have another one planned for almost a Week in January (*cough cough* it's my 40th, shhhh don't tell anyone!! :D)...So there are plans afoot!!

Once it gets past Christmas I really want to focus on this Challenge and try to get an Emergency Fund together....Both a 3-6 month one and also a smaller one that I can dip into if I need it....this extra Night Shift Work that I have been offered has been amazing and very well paid but we are working for a while before being paid and I have had to pay out for Cabs home (no transport otherwise at 3am) and my Work from home has had to take a backseat for the time being while I'm doing this Work....that means that I've had to borrow money from a very lovely Family Member until I get paid...and that has made me EXTREMELY aware that I need some spare savings in place....I am aware that without my Family Member I wouldn't be able to do this extra Work and that would be a great shame....So I'm incredibly grateful....

Anyway...that's what is going on with me....Having lots of thoughts and trying to figure out the best way forwards for me.... xXx :)

    Here's to the Updates....

LittleMissDetermined - Lovely to have you back....How are you? Please don't worry, you are welcome back ANYTIME!! I've Updated the First Page and I've put you down at £3545.87 out of £7129...is that right? Let me know if you want me to put it a different way or change it....You're doing AWESOME!! xXx :)

Dobbibill - I'm so sorry to hear that your OH has not been well....Of course you need to take care of him so please don't worry...We will always be here to welcome you back whenever you get the chance to check-in....I was a little confused with your Updates so please do check the First Page to see if what I have done is right...and do let me know if you want me to change anything...Not a problem....I've separated everything and given you two Goals....But let me know....You're doing AMAZING!! xXx :)
