Sorry if I confused you, Helen:o. Yes, my total is now £1900. Never thought I'd ever reach that amount so it's all systems go to find ways of making/saving the rest.
Challenges like this are really addictive, thanks to all the lovely support and encouragement from everyone who joins in:A
You're all doing so well:T:j:beer:
As Dobbi always encourages us to do, let's all 'keep on keeping on' eh?0 -
Hello everyone,
Monthly update for me. Car fund total:
#5 £2862.51 (57.25%)
A family member is actually looking at trading in her 09 Toyota Yaris against a new car and she has offered to sell me the Toyota for £100 less than the part ex the garage is offering her.
Ive thought about it but i feel like I'm better off continuing to save to my £5000 aim and buying in that price range, this way ill end up with a better car which will be worth more when i come to sell in years to come. I think if i took the deal she is offering id be stepping sideways rather than upwards....
But any advice would be appreciated if possible!Mortgage Feb 2023- £249,210 MFW 2023 #20: £524.05/£500 (104.81%)0 -
Morning everyone,
I'm new to the forum messaging so apologies if it seems a bit messy.
I would like to have a goal of £9000 for my emergency fund. I only have £20 in there but hope to have a bit more by the end of the month
I love reading all your comments on the board and its great because it pushes me to be better at savings :-)0 -

Hi Jellybeans - welcome to the forum & the challenge.
Helen will be along shortly and will add you to the first page along with your goal, keep us updated with your progress and challenges along the way.
It has to start to reach your goal and you've made a start - that's a bigger amount than last week so you've made the first step.
Good luck, all the best and keep at it.

Difficult one:think:
If your current car is still reliable and not incurring too many expensive bills for repairs/replacement parts I'd be tempted to stick with what you already have and keep on saving for a younger car.
The only 'plus' in buying the Toyota, in my view, is that you probably trust the family member who is selling the car and you probably already know the car and all its little idiosyncrasies and past history.
I'm in worse position than you with a very old car which is suddenly beginning to cost more and more to repair:mad:. I may have to resort to replacing it sooner rather than later with something cheap and cheerful:(
Good Luck:beer:0
