  • And other posters who imply that a 1 year old Ford Focus has more gadgets than an older E46 M3? Please, who are you kidding? The M3 might be a decade older but the technology used is a lot more sophisticated than even a newer Focus. Oh and the M3 most certainly has parking sensors and camera (camera was an option).

    That is a perfect example.

Indeed, lets, before you ruing the forum.
My issues lies with certain posters automatically dismiss high end cars.
Which they are entitled to do; why do you have a problem with it? This is a money saving cite; the majority of the members will be more interested in cheap reliable driving that "the ultimate driving machine".

We get that you like high-end cars like the M3, but is this really the place to keep talking about them?

Plus, comparing spec with spec, a 2014 Focus has way more toys than a 2003 M3. Have a look yourself. It's not surprising, it's 2 generations newer. Look at the stuff on this 64 plate 1.0 Ecotec : http://www.arnoldclark.com/used-cars/ford/focus/1.0-ecoboost-zetec-5dr/2014-%2864%29/ref/arnao-u-257497/

And also told us he had taken delivery of a Lexus and gave us a run down on how wonderful it was when it was actually still sat for sale on the garage forecourt.

If someone wants a sports car theres a hundred that are cheaper to run and buy than an m3.

They're a great car, yes, but they're not for everyone and they're not really an everyday car, if you want to preserve its value and keep the risk of big bills to a minimum.

I see plenty of people using M3s as everyday cars. It isn't an out and out track car like the Lotus. It still has a luxury interior, leather heated seats and so forth.

If we promise faithfully to put you in our ignore lists and not to interrupt your schoolboy daydreams of M3s, mythical Lexuses and two-wheel braked Yarises then in return do you promise faithfully to stick to one single poster ID? And, if you do, will you KEEP THAT PROMISE this time?

Thank you for confirming that you have no intention whatsoever to stop morphing, and that you are so self-centred that you think everybody has to listen to your drivel, whether they want to or not.

To those saying that an M3 is irrelevant on this site because it is a site about money saving, you need to chill.

Yes, the majority of people won't buy one because it's expensive to run and maintain but if you were true money savers, surely no car is the answer. No internet would save you money too.

People can still want to find the most cost effective way to repair their car, or ask for advice on servicing. Just because someone buys an expensive to maintain car doesn't mean they are happy to throw money at any problem that arises.

Actually I don't think an M3 is completely irrelevant for MSE

If bought correctly they can represent good value and possibly be a future class is so potentially be a very MSE purchase.

I think value of the CSL will go up.

Yes I am aware that I have in part agreed with DM

But my reasoning is very different to his.

He thinks an M3 indicates you are something a bit special or wealthy because you own an expensive car.

Personally many wealthy people tend not to flaunt it

My BiL and sister have a house worth £800k with no mortgage.

They drive a Galaxy, Audi A4 and a Fiesta.

My uncle has a mortgage free house worth over £1million, he rents a car when he needs one as feels owning one is pointless in London. Last time I saw him he had rented a Meriva.

I am in no way jealous of somebody that want to spend their hard earned on a nice car. I did it myself for years. And likely will again, but your car does not define you or improve you in any way.
