  • You definitely aren't alone, look how many of us are also here! You are right in your idea to do it "bite by bite", don't look at the whole thing, just break it down in to more manageable bits, otherwise like you say it gets overwhelming and you can just feel like giving up.

Never be ashamed, you have done the hardest part, the "LBM", the facing up to it all and actually writing down how much you owe. It is a shock for a start, but once you know everything you owe, and with your SOA above, you can start to make a plan. We use a spreadsheet, and when you see the debt amounts dropping each month it really does spur you on. You will also find lots of ideas, tips and support on here :)

Thank you so much I guess I've needed this shock to get me to face what I've actually been burying my head for for so long.
  • I have skimmed through everything, and I saw the bit about you being a people pleaser in terms of not saying no to going out, events etc. It is hard, but it is time to get tough, because while you are pleasing everyone else, look what it is doing to you. You deserve to be happy too :)

I know it is hard, but stick to your guns, people will get used to it. If we don't have the money, we just don't go, end of story.

Also remember that although you want to be debt free ASAP, you are entitled to some little pleasures. All work and no play...... It doesn't have to be all doom and gloom. If you want to go out with mates, budget that in say for once a month!

Sky...do you really need this? Could you get freesat or free View? Or Netflix? Much cheaper
    LBM.....sometime in 2013 £27,056. 10 creditors
June 20.....£7,587.....3 creditors left 72% paid

£26,200 on interest only part of mortgage (July 16)...will chip away £17,103
    £49,200 repayment mortgage ( July 16) £37,764

Sky not really but my broadband and phone line are in with that payment which I do need for work. I have recently halved my sky bill though when the contract runs out in May I'm going to cancel it although not sure I'd save much as I'd just be cancelling the tv and keeping the broadband and phone line
