hi
i'd like to travel on the 30th of june from london heathrow and return on the 10th of july to any new york airport (FK would be preferred). The cheapest i've found is £350 but if possible i'd like it a lot cheaper and with a better known company.
thanks in advance0 -

Why JFK, is it because it is the furthest away from Manhattan?!
£281 from LHR to LaGuardia with American Airlines (Change at Boston)
Lufthansa might have some bargain fares on, they're coming up around £216ish, but changing in europe both ways...0 -
Looking for some advice...
We (2 adults, 2 kids) are looking to go to NY around or after Christmas and returning in the New Year. We can be a bit flexible with dates, but were thinking of flying out on the 25th or 26th and back on the 4th or 5th Jan. Flying out from any London airports and no preference as to which NY airport we land at. Would like to fly direct.
The cheapest I've found so far is £329 flying BA, bookable through expedia. Bearing in mind we're planning to travel at a popular time, is there any benefit to holding off booking for a couple of months in the hope that fares might come down?
Thanks in advance!0 -
i'd settle for that0

Hi there,
Hoping someone can help!
I need a one-way ticket to New York around the 18th ish of September (I'm a little flexible but not too much) I'm going to admit my ignorance and say I know little about New York....I am assuming I would go to JFK as that is the only airport I have heard of and it seems to be in all the drop down lists for searches...the cheapest single I can find is with Fly zoom, £241 (even though flightchecker is telling me it is £190....) am I going about it right? Is this the cheapest I am going to get it? I don't really mind where I leave from but I am guessing (again) that london is cheapest, I can easily go from there, or Bristol/Birmingham.
Can't wait!

single tickets are notoriously more expensive than a cheap return..
also, under the Visa Waiver Programme, you must have a ticket for onward travel within 90 days, out of the country, or they won't let you in.. now if you have a green card, or a work visa, this wouldn't be an issue..
onto the flight prices... ok... flying out on the 18th, i can get £227 with Kuwait Airways, from heathrow to JFK0 -
Hi all, are there any seasoned travellers out there who know of anyone offering Premium Economy from Birmingham to anywhere in the U.S. please?
I have literally spent ALL day sorting out a very last min holiday, got a fab cruise deal and managed to find direct flights BHX to NYC for just £346 with Continental (leaving 25/5, returning 9/6, on Kayak.co.uk, MILES cheaper than anywhere else I could find) but I haven't flown with them before and the best info I've found on seatguru suggests their 757 isn't the best in terms of comfort for a transatlantic flight.
As I am celebrating finally getting out of an awful business and haven't had a decent hol in over 7 years, I'd really like to travel in style, so would pay the extra for PE if I could find anyone doing it from Birmingham - I have literally searched hundreds of places and spoken to so many useless airline booking call centres today I can't tell you!
If PE doesn't exist from BHX, would travel anywhere else in UK if we could get reasonable (ie sub £1,000 ish) direct flights, but no luck so far. I've even looked at flying out PE from London then coming back direct to BHX but the ridiculous hike in prices when you're not doing a return flight is quite outrageous! Also did look at Zoom PE but a little put off by some stories, but then, can you go wrong for £424 with 36" pitch...? I believe their in-flight entertainment leaves a bit to be desired but maybe for that price we should just splash out on a portable DVD player! But then we have to get to and from Gatwick and the unbelievable £316 return BHX to Gatwick, plus 7-hour plus journey!!! Any input anyone, might even pay my nephew to drive us from Gatwick to Birmingham...
Sorry for looooong post but I have truly exhausted all other possibilities, I reckon I've maybe earned a little help...
Thanks for all help,
Kalamity, long-time no hol MSE'er
P.S. The reason I say we could fly anywhere in US is cos we have a week to occupy ourselves prior to cruise and internal flights are soooooooooo cheap in the US it wouldn't be a problem to hop back to NYC for 1/6, can't wait for cruise part :j0 -
Thanks for the reply
Good god, can you imagine if they didn't let me in! Iim only staying about 3/4nights, will have an onward ticket to....Mexico. Won't be returning until about May 2009...and I have no idea where from....it feels so good to say that, I seriously can not wait:D

Hi all, are there any seasoned travellers out there who know of anyone offering Premium Economy from Birmingham to anywhere in the U.S. please?
how about this for an idea...
MAN - PHL - NYC
(sounds daft, it is cheaper to go to NYC via PHL, rather than just PHL direct, so i know they ain't direct, but hear me out... )
the economy seat price is £379
US Airways, they allow you to upgrade to Envoy class upon check in, at a cost of $500.. (so, at an exchange rate of 1.9) that is £263, twice.. if there is seat availablity..
saying there is, and each time i've done this, there has been... a return flight in business class will cost you £905 all in... BUSINESS CLASS... not prem econ.. and if you really want to treat yourself.. you could go to the sleeper (flat bed) for another $300 each way (maybe do that once only say)
so, now, you have BUS on the way out, First on the way back, it is £1057... less if the exchange rate is favourable..
seat availability in envoy / sleeper is - 11 seats free on teh way out, 12 on the way back, all the sleeper seats (which are on row 1) are alway blocked out until day of travel.. if they can sell you a seat in Envoy , and they are actually full, they'll bump a freq flyer in envoy up to sleeper, so you still get a seat...
its an idea..
the only people i know who do a true premium econ, are BA, and Virgin... and from London, to NYC, on BA's PremEcon works out at over £1600
phew.. another long post!0
