    Thanks Jones for your input
I suppose they are about the best prices I'm likely to get do u think?

Yes we could fly from Dublin if it was worthwhile.
    Thanks

    Hello,
I have been accepted for this race :j:T. Its on the 2nd November.

I want to go for about week, and my dates are flexible but I would like at least 3 days in the city AFTER the race so I can do some proper eating/drinking without worrying about spoiling the race.
The best I found was £345 return from Manchester (preffer a northern departure) with US Airways via Philly from 30/10 to 6/11.

    Any better prices folks?
    cheers
  • Hi, i'm looking for flights to new york round about the 5th July but can be reasonably flexible, returning about 5 days later. Flying from the south of england to any new york airline. We were advised not to book before three months before we want to fly, but now we're getting closer and the prices still all seem to be in the £400 region. Can anyone advise me of anything cheaper?

    Thanks

5th July is a holiday in the USA... hence prices will be more expensive than normal...

Please be warned that Jet2 are starting flights direct from Leeds Bradford to NYC for christmas shopping trips..

warned? why, they are a budget airline and this is a good thing! I can hear you saying..

well... for £580 you get your return flight. Ok, Direct from LBA, which is a small airport.. but this is NOT cheap, this is NOT moneysaving, and just an utter rip off IMO..

they only fly out on a Thurs, and come back on the Sun, so you are very limited, but don't be tempted, search around, ask people here, as i've just found from Manchester, direct flights for £465 (Delta), and 1 change flights (PHL) for £324 (US Airways). For only £68 MORE than 1 ticket with Jet2, you get 2 tickets with US Airways!

Also, even on long haul, you're only allowed 17kg of baggage with Jet2, and have to pay, £7.99, Extra bags are £7.99 prebooked.

Again, US Airways, allow 2 bags at 23kg each free, (the $25 fee doesn't apply to TATL flights!).

Jet2 then charge £50 each way for a double legroom seat, and £3.99 extra each way, for a Emergency exit row seat, or £3.99 extra each way just to reserve a seat!

US Airways, allocate their bulkheads, which are extra legroom, at the gate. For Free! and you can choose your seat online, before paying, for free, and change at any time, for free.. you get what i mean!

So, just to go to NYC, and back, with 1 bag, and you want to know where you sit, it is £604, compared to US Airways £324

and they say that budget airlines are supposed to be cheap!!!!!

you probably have e-tickets, so nothing paper, apart from your confirmation...

which airline have you booked with... you may be able to log onto their website, with your reservation code (if you're a FF member anyway) and then select seats from there

i've never used ebookers, the one's i've used have always let you select seats through the process...
