    What carrier?

And mark, when do you think it is cheapest to go between July and August.

Its with nwa and has 1 stop in both directions.

Actually has anyone changed at Metro wayne airport before? Just wondering

how long it will take us to go from one terminal to the other. we only have

1hr 15minutes before we have to be on the flight to newark from there. Hope

    its enough time

what price have you found already with zoom?

Give or take a few pounds it was £310 for a return flight. I've managed to get completely free accomodation, in the Marriott in Time Square so I don't mind paying a little more for a good quality flight but would rather keep the cost down and spend all the money on having a fantastic time when in the city.

eeek..... thats gonna be a tight connection, remember you have to..

    1) get off the plane
    2) go through immigration
    3) pick up luggage
    4) go through customs (ok, that bit takes 30 seconds)
    5) drop off luggage at rechecking point
    6) change terminals..

now, i've been known to do that change quite easily at PHL airport, but i haven't flown the route you're flying..

one piece of advice... check flightstats.com and punch in the flight number of your first flight, you do this on a regular basis, and you can see if it arrives

    a) on time
    b) late
    c) early..

i know that US always stated their flight from MAN - PHL was x amount of time, but each time i flew, it was EARLY... and flightstats confirmed that too...

    hope that helps a bit..

£310 ain't that cheap IMO, and especially if you're flying zoom..

wait a while, you're still out of the magic 3 month window, and i'm sure you can get a proper carrier to take you TATL for £300...

as for times square..... (grumbles)... free is good, but times square isn't. try get them to change it to marriot downtown, and then you're in a much nicer location.. :p

Thanks for the quick reply. Why is times square inadvisable? Location wise I couldn't think of anywhere better. I can change the hotel to any of the Marriott's hotels (or sister brands) so if you can advise of a better one i'd be happy to check it out.

    Thanks

why not times square... hmm... i don't like it.. its tacky, and designed for tourists... if it is your first trip to NYC, then by all means you'll think its wonderful, but what i want to visit is NEW YORK CITY, not the tourist elements.

I prefer the lower parts of manhattan, south of 14th street really, its got more character, restaurants and bars are better, and cheaper, and IMO it is more of the real new york city....

Its a pity Marriott doesn't have a hotel around Union Square, its a much nicer area.... i'm not going to recommend where to stay, because this is just my personal opinion.. some people love times square, and think its the best thing since sliced bread. Personally, i feel its an awful tourist trap, and you can easily get sucked in, to overpaying for souvenirs, goods, drinks, and food..

  • Hi, I've seen a flight from London to New York on Virgin for £323 18th -30th june. Is this good? Prices seem to be coming down compared to a few weeks back, are they likely to go down any more?

Hi, have just returned from a flight with NWA via Detroit Metro.

Regarding the question on transfer, NWA - NWA flights will be the same terminal. It's a brand new terminal, with a train which runs from one end to the other.

We had a 1hr45m connection on the way out. We were last off the plane and walked straight to an Immigration Officer - no queue. Picked up bags about 10 minutes later, through customs and put the luggage back on the belt. Then back through the scanners and we were in the terminal buidling again,10 mins from the gate. It was very easy, lots of people directing connections, and we had loads of time to spare (it was worth the change in Detroit Metro just to not queue for Immigration).

On the way back, our inbound flight was delayed. We ran from our aircraft to the one flying us back to Gatwick and our luggage arrived by van the next day to home as there was no time to load it on the plane.

I was very impressed with the NWA service - good in flight entertainment on demand, new plane, plenty of drinks choices and hot breakfast snack on the way back - unlike alot of airlines. Would recommend.

    Hope this helps

Thank you londonlad35. I was beginning to panic about the change we have

to make. Good to know that NWA have good service.

Londonlad35 lots of questions for you. Hope you can help. We leave on the 13th

    so getting excited already.

    How was the weather?

Also are they very strict on luggage allowances. Worried that 20KG is too
little for all the shopping I am planning to do in NYC.

Londonlad35 I assume you landed in Newark. How did you get from the airport to Manhattan if thats where you were staying?

Flying back how long before flight departure do they close check in?

    Thanks
