what kind of hotel do you want. Do you want to stay in Jersey, or Manhattan?
If the latter, you can't go wrong with the cosmopolitan hotel, it is reasonable, and a great location in TriBeCa..

and as for not being able to find details about baggage allowance, it is on the continental website.. Clicky...

I checked on the Bristol airport website, as I stated above I thought it might be six times a week but it is in fact daily most of the year:
Direct flights between Bristol International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport began in May 2005 and now operate throughout the year with a daily service, (5 times a week from November 2007 - March 2008). On the Continental website not every day has direct flights, some go via Amsterdam.

as far as flights go, i have noticed aer lingus is decent for ny-uk, but not particularly cheap going from uk-ny.
if you are an hsbc member, i believe the rates are quite decent, as there are hsbc's throughout nyc.
if you want cheap hotels, go to a place called flushing ny. it is half an hour outside the city centre via the number 7 subway express.
once you arrive, you should get a metro card for the subway.
also if you want to do shopping outside of nyc area, go to roosevelt field mall. its supposed to be the biggest mall in new york. that is a little farther, going about 35 miles outside nyc. you can get there via long island rail road.

See my above post. It is daily most of the year direct to Newark.

The flights to Amsterdam are not with Continental, it's a KLM flight, booked through Continental as a codeshare.

For me the whole appeal of flying from my "local" airport direct would make it a bit pointless to then have to change at Amsterdam when I can fly direct (Continental plane) at least 5 days a week all year, with a daily flight for the majority of the year.

I would just move my flying dates by one day :)

manhattan is an island, you can stay anywhere on the island, and be within easy reach of any of the attractions and sights.

from EWR, the cheapest way into Manhattan is using the AirTrain and connecting to a NJ Transit train into Penn Station.

Or, you could use a car service!

Hi, we are flying into Newark late at night, 11pm but we are staying in Staten Island. Are we better taking a cab from the ranks or phoning a local car service.

    Thanks

  • Hi, wondering if anyone had experience of getting flights for August? Flights are over 500 pounds at the moment which is just rediculous IMO. Is the price likely to go up or are the airlines likely to do sales in the next few weeks?

Want to book ASAP so any advice is really appreciated!
