Hi All,
Just been checking out the useful tools at the start of the thread - wow there's loads of info!
Markymoo - do you really get flights to NY for £200?! The cheapest I can find at the moment is circa £350 - I want to go around September/October but not really fixed on dates yet.
The good thing for me is - no accommodation bill as I'll be staying with a friend - yah!
Keep up the good work on the thread guys.
Although we booked our flights at £350 with Delta direct (not bad), about a week before those dates we could've got identical flights for £230ish. So it's all about knowing what you want to spend and taking the plunge at the time you think is right!CARLISLE UNITED FC SUPPORTER

does anyone have any reccomendatios on where to go.
thanks for any help
Before I bought my good lady her diamond ring for her 40th last year I done quite a bit of research and the same answers kept cropping up which was unless you know what you're looking for ie how to check quality in the cut of the diamond etc then its best to stay out of the diamond district as they will chew you up and spit you for dinner.
We searched around for a couple of days for the "right" ring, personally i think they are all the same but thats probably a man thing, and she ended up falling for one in macys of all places, anyway there also plenty of chain retailers which do jewelery in manhattan so its best to just go browsing.
all the best

hey we're off to new york on the 29th of june and returning 10th of july. we're 3 students and i was wondering if you could tell me which hostel/hotel would be the best. I've read a post about the chelsea hostel but reviews are all over the place for most of them in new york. we'd prefer to be as close to time square as possible but we're not too fussy. Also we don't mind trying a few hostels out.
Another question is one of us is 20 years old so was just wondering what are his chances of being able to come out for a beer with us.
Thanks a lot

<broken record>
Why do you wish to be close to times square?
from Chelsea - Times Square, you're looking at about 5 - 6 minutes by subway!!! and also, it'll be quieter in chelsea!
Seriously. take that thought out of your head, and you'll be fine!
oh, and as for the 20 year old.. they'll be all alone in the hostel all night.0 -
markymoo i don't understand it either ....no one would say to a visitor to London you need to be close to Leicester Square.0

as for the 20 year old drinking... they can't ..and if you are all early twenties the bars will want ID off you proving you are 21 before you get a beer0

Thanks markymoo and phatbear...
I'll keep hunting - Jan is also a possible time to visit so I might put it off until then and get some sale fares. I was looking for about seven nights...but really it depends on my friend. I'm in the information gathering stage of the buying cycle at the moment!0 -

Hi, I'm going to NYC in November and was hoping to catch a Broadway Show but I've been looking at tickets online and most I've found are £40-£90 which is significantly dearer than london shows.
Is this normal or am I just looking in the wrong place?
Also, would it be better to buy when we are over there, sort of last minute as I know the London shows are significantly cheaper last minute.
thanks0
