    Hi all,

After much deliberation and money saving we've finally decided we're going to attend my cousin's wedding in Pennsylvania, and visit NY whilst we're out there. The weddings on the 9th August and we're not too fussed weather we go to the wedding before NY or after, we were thinking of spending 4-5 days on NY then 2 days at the wedding before coming home, cant really afford to stay much longer than that.
Has anyone got any tips on flights? The chespest are coming up at just under £500 each which ft 1k for the 2 of us will seriously eat into our budget!
Also any ideas how far/easy it will be to get from new York to Pennyslvania?

Thanks in advance for any help

where in the state of PA are you wanting to be?! that will determine how much things are, and if it will be cheaper to go before and after. Also, what british airport you flying from?

The absolute best pie is from Staten Island! Although the one we had in Brooklyn last time was pretty amazing too :T

    Hi All,

Just been checking out the useful tools at the start of the thread - wow there's loads of info!

Markymoo - do you really get flights to NY for £200?! The cheapest I can find at the moment is circa £350 - I want to go around September/October but not really fixed on dates yet.

The good thing for me is - no accommodation bill as I'll be staying with a friend - yah!

Keep up the good work on the thread guys.

Looking back over the past 6 months of airfares for new york, there have been return prices up for grabs as low as £150. I know, because i bought one at that price and went on holiday in March. I think dmg24 got one of those prices flights too.

Prices fluctuate throughout the year. Jan - Mar is the cheapest time of year to fly, with return prices easily obtainable at around the £225 - £275 price range.

Sept - Oct is more expensive, the weather is nicer, more people want to go, and obviously Fuel prices have shot up this year. This is really making prices higher.

I still stand by my 3 month rule. I ain't mentioned it in a while, as I get bored of sounding like a broken record. I normally book my flights anytime between 3 months before I go, and 6 weeks, but I do normally fly in the low season.

You haven't mentioned how long you're staying for, so, i've randomly chosen a 7 night stay, departing London airports..

    Departing 8th, 9th, 10th, 15th, 18th, 22nd 23rd, 24th, 25th Sept - £318 Air Canada (changing in canada!)
Departing 20th Sept - £278 with Kuwait Airways (LHR - JFK)

slightly cheaper than what you've found, for the time of year, they look good prices...
