I don't know. Just remember going with my sister and not having many and being too embarrassed to ask for change if we were leaving a tip. :o We spent a lot on that trip surprisingly enough. :D

which is why i make sure i always have a mix of 10's and 20's.. and just round up, and i never ask for change.... but, you have all the singles now.. they'll come in useful for drinks on the side of the street.. they're normally 1 - 2 bucks each, so you'll have change for that...

do enjoy yourself, and you phatbear.. send me a postcard :)

Hi guys, less than a week to go now. I'm just a little excited!:j

Quick question, anyone purchased a sim card over there (or even a whole handset)? If so where from?

If not, what is the cheapest way to call home? (Have done search, can't find much USA specific.)

    Thanks.

wal-mart sell pay as you go mobiles . you also get cheap stores , pharmacy type stores etc that sell them.
it's easier if you can get someone in the US to source you a mobile from the likes of Virgin as they do deals where the phone is free as long as you put $20 of credit on it.
i find Virgin cheap for both phoning within the US and back to Europe.
it's so frustrating when you have a multitude of UK mobiles and it is so prohibitive to use them abroad.
my business mobile has some amazing tariffs for use in the UK but is junk once you leave these shores

i have a t-mobile sim that i purchased many years ago... they credit expires after a while, but i've now topped up so much that it expires after one year..

i'm lucky as i have a voip line at home, which has an NYC number on, so i just call that to call back home, so it is the cost of a local call.. bargain basement prices indeed!

Silk Cut.. no.. never seen them in NYC.. buy 200 on the way out at the airport from duty free.

if you don't, you have plenty of choice - Marlboro Lights, Camel Lights, Parliament Lights, etc etc...
