i've been to NYC many times, as people are well aware on this forum.. i wouldn't waste my breath, saying that the south street seaport never has a queue, if it wern't true...

i've never not seen the midtown TKTS booth without a queue of at least 50 people..

and south street seaport is well worth visiting anyway .....from there go via the wall street area to ground zero and then on to battery park....it should be part of someones itinerary if visiting NYC ...can't comment on the ticket booth but markymoo knows his stuff

We want to go to new york next easter (2 adults and 2 children) direct from Manchester with Delta. From Thursday 9th to Wednesday 15th flights are £375 each. In the next few days flights will be released for return up to 7 days later.

Ideally we would like to go from Saturday to Saturday - does anyone know if this will be more expensive. It's so 2 families can share an apartment in Manhattan and the owner will only do Saturday to Saturday.

For the previous fully week from Saturday to Saturday the prices go up to £445 each but at the moment the Saturday 11th flight is still quite cheap but I have to wait until the end of the week to find out the return flight price for the Saturday. Do the Delta flights go up daily or does it depend on bookings?

we did our flights in april/ may with delta, sat to sat. but booked through airline network..quite a few spare seats both ways. Flight leaves Manchester 11am very civilized, returns 10pm sat arrives Man 10am. With Delta you can pick or change your seats online

flight are normally the cheapest with a saturday night stay involved, as this, supposedly means you ain't flying on business and on pleasure. so flying SAT - SAT will give you a cheaper price, than say - MON - THUR...

Easter may be a bit more expensive than other times of year, as it is holidays, but £445 is a bit pricey... read my guide on booking an NYC holiday, flight prices can go up and down daily... down is preferable.. :)

i've just done a quick search for the whole of April next year... cheapest days to fly out on are (for a 7 day holiday)

    Sat 18th / £357
    Sat 25th / £357

    US Airways, Change at PHL...

the TKTS booth isn't at times square, it is a lot smaller round the corner at the marriott... the queues are always large, and spending 15 mins on the subway to head down to south street seaport is a much better idea, as then, once you have your ticket, you could take a nice stroll down to battery city park, or a trip on the staten island ferry...

there is more to NYC than times square...

Sounds look a good plan, ta. 11 days to go.

Does anyone know anything about a suburb just outside New York called Woodside, about 10 minutes on the subway to Manhattan apparently.

We have found a house to share there which looks really nice, around £900 for a week so 2 families sharing would make it quite reasonable and I am sure better than 4 each to a small hotel room.

We have a choice of Woodside for £900 or central Manhattan brownstone apartment for £1,200.

woodside is in queens. you should hopefully be somewhere near the number 7 subway line which will take about 15 mins to grand central and a couple more minutes to continue on to times square.

Sports Museum of America opened on the 7th May in Lower Manhatten, you can use the following code to purchase adult tickets in May for $15 instead of $27- 'NYC15'.

Hopefully of some help to anybody going to New York this month and wanting to visit the Museum.

be wary of short term rentals on apartments and houses. most are illegal rentals, and theoretically you shouldn't be there.. it has been said before, that people pay money, turn up, and the place either doesn't exist, or if it does, there is no one there to give you keys, or the person who actually lives there, has no knowledge of you coming..

check the tripadvisor forums for a lot more details on this!
