Mr Bear - Can't recommend any hotels, as I stayed in a hostel.
I returned from a week long stay yesterday, and it was lovely weather. I'd say spring or autumn, I think the summer months are very hot and sticky.
I would definitely recommend American Airlines - I paid £245 for my return flights, at very good times of day. I checked Virgin and found their cheapest prices were for (IMHO) bad flight times (ie. late afternoon out, afternoon/early evening return)
I flew out at 10am and arrived at 1:30pm NYC time and left NYC at midnight, arriving in the UK yesterday at 11am - very quick flight home!
The food was good, complimentary soft drinks/juices/tea &coffee - alcohol was £3/$5, they had a wide choice of films and TV, and they give you a pillow and blanket for the flight, and free headphones!
I have travelled with Virgin before and did find them good, so do check them out, I booked my holiday back in Feb so they may offer better times for cheaper prices.
Hope that has helped you.Blood donations to date: 10 | Type: O negative[/B][/CENTER]0 -

If you walk through the Marriot hotel opposite where the booth normally is (and it's not hard to find) you will find the queue - it moves fairly fast, but get there before it opens. I went to a matinee on Wednesday and got in the queue at 9:45 (it opens at 10) and was done by 10:15. You do have to be prepared to be jostled around, they get as many people as possible into the box office area, and then you have to push past loads of people to get out!
As far as i am aware, they open at 3pm for afternoon shows, these are alwasy more popular so try to get there for 2 to be near the front of the queue! I would double check this time, I may be wrong.
All the shows I could have seen were 50% off, I think this would be the same for evening performances but I'm not sure. Perhaps you could look at websites now to get a general idea of the prices, then work out the prices with 30-50% off.
As for seating - I was 4 rows from the front, which i was amazed at, but when I went to see a show a few years ago in NYC, my friend and I were up on the balcony right over to the side, I guess it would have been called a slightly restricted view.
Ooh, something I've just remembered about the seating - some of the theatres have odd numbered seating on a different side to the even numbers, so should you get 13 and 15, you will be sat together!!!
There is also another TKTS booth down at the South Street Seaport - I was told this is MUCH quieter than the times Square one.
Hope that has helped - enjoy whatever you go to see!
remember if you use the south street seaport TKTS location, it is a lot quieter, and you can get matinee tickets to the NEXT days performance there..

Hello,
If you want to see the Statue of Liberty closer but not visit it, then take the staten island ferry from Battery park. It is free and runs every 30min! Enjoy!0 -
Im looking to take the girlfriend to New York, middle of June next year.
We'd be flying from London!!!
Can anyone suggest who'd be best to fly with and when to book?
Also is it worth checking site's like expedia for a flight & hotel package?
Any help would be greatly appreceated folks..0 -
Hi guys,
Travelling to NYC next week, i intend to pay my hotel bill with my lloydsTSB amex. (haven't got time to apply for that nationwide card, and don't wanna carry too much cash.)
Am i right in thinking that i'll just get charged 2.75%?
So if the hotel's $1000, approx amex exchange rate is 2.06USD/GBP (Does anyone know where on the internet this may actually be displayed?)
Then 1000/2.06= £485.44
485.44x102.75%= £498.79
Is this right??
I also get double airmiles for overseas purchases, so not too bad overall, but i've also got visa credits and debits and mastercard, would they be better?0 -

It won't be AMEX 's rate that will be charged but LTSB asthey are the card issuer.
Normally the 2.75% is worked into the exchange rate and won't show separately on your statement but I won't disagree with your working outs.0 -
We are going to NY in 8 days (and counting)!!!!!!
Thought I could possibly make some money on an Iphone - any comments on how much you would be willing to pay for one if it was not locked (UK ones are locked to 02 for 18 months meaning min. cost of about £900)
According to Apple online I might be able to get one for around USD 400 (plus say taxes of 10%) but would they sell me one without a phone contract?
Someone I work with is interested in getting one but does not want to be locked into a long contract.
Any guesses?
Anything else I could consider buying?
Thanks for any comments.0
