Cracking thanks, though this time I was glad to spend more time in Boston. I just wanted to chill by the time I got to NY, and we all know that you can't do that!
Did one of the hop on hop off bus tours. Normally I can't stand things like that, but I couldn't be bothered to think for myself, so it was nice just to sit there and be guided around. Some of the guides were fantastic, some definitely not worth the money. The positive is that you get lots of information that you otherwise wouldn't, the negative that the loops only go in one direction, so it can be a very long way round if you only want to go to somewhere near the start of the tour!
Went to Seaport, which was quite nice, next to the Bridges. The only negative there was the abysmal restaurant I ate in. Looked lovely from the outside, unfortunately once I had ordered and was brought my plastic cutlery (and plates) it was all downhill from there ... avoid the SEAPORT CAFE!
Am planning my next holiday now - my old favourite Morocco, Madrid, or Boston or NY. If I go with friends, I don't think we'll get further than Madrid, but if I'm on my own ... the world is my oyster! Think it depends on when I go, if it is in the next few months it will be Marrakech, if later in the year I'll go back over the pond.
One thing though, I am never flying from Manchester again. Sick all the way there in the car, and then missed my train home. Great.
Another option is to take a charter flight from EMA to Las Vegas, seem to be some good late deals available.
But otherwise, am looking for great deals from BHX!!! xGone ... or have I?0 -
you can't blame Manchester on that..... that's like me saying, i'm never flying from Manchester again, because on the way back in September, someone crashed into my car...
Glad you had a good time...0 -
Hey,
I'm spending 8 days in New York at the start June with some friends. Don't really fancy spending the whole time in the City. We're young guys and fancy a 4/5 days by the beach somewhere nearby. Reasonably cheap and a fun young crowd are imperative!
Can you guys suggest any places? Searchs on google for New York and tourism only talk about the city, I want the sweet spring break style beach resorts!
Mikmo
P.S. How's the weather there early june?0 -
Flight centre are offering returns to new york from £195, I'm not sure of the details but it takes you to the page below. It was advertised in a cheap flights email I received.

I'm going to new york and boston in October/November for 4 days each. Has anyone got any idea how long before the flight we need to be at the airport to fly from new york to boston? We're flying with american eagle, and the website says at least 1 hrs 30 mins, but I'm not sure if that's a generous amount of time or not?
Thanks for your help.0 -

Drat! I leave for 12 days in NY on Wednesday 21st May, flying out of Edinburgh on Continental to Newark (much better than JFK, IMO). I booked in April at £396.70 and, having checked this evening, the same flights are on offer for £269!!
My daughter has lived there since 2000, and I make the trip at least once a year and sometimes twice. You would think I would've known better but, as I usually go for Thanksgiving (end November) and/or in April, there is only one flight out of Edinburgh at that time of the year. Throughout the high season they have 2 flights and I should have considered that. Not very frugal am I? Still, I'll remember next time.
By the way, I was surprised to see this NY thread on the MSE Forum and pleased that so many people love NY the way I do. I think Markymoo does a sterling job with his advice and guidance. I'll gladly provide any info he can't (probably not a lot!!)

McFluff.... one hint that I love to give people is that to never check the prices of flights once you have booked them.....
A couple of years ago, I booked for March, and about 3 weeks later, I was curious, and found out my flights were about £80 cheaper. Since then, when I book, I never go back onto the same website to check prices, just in case!!!
Thanks for the compliments too!0
