hi everyone - my sister, some friends and myself are hoping to book holiday to New York in next few days - my main concern is that my sister is only 20 - will this be a problem in terms of going out in the evening and going into bars, etc? i understand the legal drinking age is 21, but i dont want to leave her in hotel on her own!
Would be grateful for any help!

ive been doing some research about it and am i right in thinking my sister (2o yrs old) can go into bars but will have to wear a wristband so she cant get served?

Also have read its advisable to carry photo ID on you AT ALL times? is this necessary? i'd be worried carrying my passport around all the time.

    Thanks :j

i can get you a flight for £75..... you would be flying from Philadelphia, USA, to NYC, USA...... is that no good?
(meaning, it would help if you told us what airport you're travelling from, so we can find the right price)

    oops...yeah sorry!

London to New York 20/08 to 28/08 or so. Cheapest I can find is flying on 22/08, i always thought midweek flights were cheapest so I'm a bit stumped by Friday being so much cheaper.

For NYC weekdays are dearer because they are classed as business flights. Thats what I was told when I went last.
    I love NYC!

Just a quick hello from T6 at JFK!

Flight from Man was excellent, I am really impressed with Delta (especially as I was expecting the worst!). My only criticism was that I was not allowed an exit row seat because I was on my own!!! So I had a little moan and have been guaranteed one on the way back. Saying that, I was more than happy wih the legroom, so all good!

So now I am just waiting for my JetBlue flight to Boston. Nice little terminal, and free wifi! x

was on this flight myself,,the flight landed 30mins early, giving me plenty of time to get the bus i wanted which was due to leave 3.30, i missed it by 5mins due to massive queues through immigration. anyway, i was going to get a shuttle bus to manhattan so i could catch another bus to pennsilvania but decided to try getting there by train,,it turned out realy easy. Got the sky train from terminal 3 to jamaica station ($5) then from there a train to penn station which was another $5 i think, and managed to catch the same bus that id missed.

CVW55: My daughter is 18, and even at a bar ( Mudville 9) waiting for a table to eat they are not allowed to serve even a soft drink at the bar if you are under 21. At the table it's OK. She never wore a band but depending on your ages you will more often than not be checked for ID. I carried my passport with me all the time and was asked for it in shops on many occassions, so was glad I did. At Balthazar's ( a great restaurant) she was allowed sat the bar with a coke, so it just may depend on where you go. but have ID.

    Hey guys
Im flying to New York on Zoom from the 16th june till the 30th june from london, and i have been a bit confused about what kind of travel insurance i should get.
I havent really been on holiday before so i dont know what im doing!
im not really doing anything specialist while there just general sightseeing and then my friend is driving us to Chicago for a bit more sightseeing.
if anyone could help me find the cheapest and best deal itd be much appreciated! i am a student aged 21 if that helps!

  • I have been quoted £319.50 By Delta & £329.80 by Continental both are using 757 200's both are direct to JFK and Newark. I'm planning on using the Grand Union Hotel £362 for a double for a week.

    1. Which airline is best

    2. Has anyone used this hotel as it appears to have great reviews for a 2* hotel.

    3. Is it worth holding off booking for cheaper prices?

Thanks in advance for any replies.
  • Hey all, i'm planning to go NY for my 21st (i can't wait!) and I've managed to book the New York Helmsley for 212pp for 6 nights (there's four of us in a two double beds room - every else will be 21). I know im working backwards - hotel first, then flights, but i thought that deal was too good to not book!

My dates are pref. from the 8-14/15th Aug and the cheapest direct flights i have found so far are by BA for 440 pounds return

I've read as much of the previous posts as poss - so judging by opinions, the best time to book is in June - as it's three months prev?

I just want to the get a great deal, so any help would be greatly appreaciated!! Thanx in advance, J.

ps. glad i've found this forum.
