The flight I mentioned above from Bristol is with continental. What are they like to fly with?

Completely different culture in the States-at 26 you'll get ID'd most places too. Main reason is that unlike here if a bar is caught serving underage it;s automatic loss of licence.
We have a similar issue as a friend's son who is 18 is coming to Vegas with us. He simply doesn't believe us when we tell him he won't get served so we've given up and will let him work it out for himself.
I've flown Continental to and from NYC (but not from Bristol) I like them -they'd fall in my top 3 to fly to New York with. (I fly a fair bit to the US 3-5 trips a year normally)

Just a quicky - can anyone give me an idea of how much in room internet access will cost me? I have read $12.95 for the Marriott, does this sound about right for other hotels? If so, it is a lot cheaper than in the UK! x

at the cosmopolitan hotel it is FREE.... (as long as you have a wifi card thingy in your laptop)

to be honest, in NYC there are so many insecure wireless spots, you can just sit anywhere and pick up free wifi.. also, some of the parks actually have wifi installed, so you sit outside and relax while surfing the net...

t-mobile hotspots (starbucks, but in months to come they will be changing to AT&T) charge $6 for an hour, or $10 for a 24 hour block!....

what is it... 24 hours to go?

Will be leaving home at 8am ... or 6.30 if my Dad (nominated taxi driver!) has anything to do with it (I definitely didn't get my chilled attitude from him)! Am already in holiday mode, have been to the pub for a long lunch, home for half an hour ... and then I'm going back to the pub!

If you hear of some woman being arrested for sitting in the middle of the road with her laptop, that'll be me ...

    Hi all,
I have been reading this topic for a long time and tried to follow some advices - particularly "3 months rule" but to be honest I didn't hope to get a cheap flight to NYC because every time I checked it was over 350-400 quid :( So I decided to wait and probably get a last minute deal
And eventually yesterday I got it! Huge sale on BA website is on now and yesterday I booked tickets to NYC from Manchester just for 267 pounds - second week of July:T For three of us just 803 quid for direct flight!!!:j

Thank you, markymoo, and all for brilliant advices!! Now I'm going to book a hotel and read all topics about sightseeing in NYC
